Genre-defying South Korean band SE SO NEON makes a powerful comeback with the release of their latest single, “Twit Winter” — a vibrant indie rock anthem that reflects on the fleeting nature of life. Accompanied by a striking music video shot in Seoul, the visual was self-directed by the band’s frontwoman, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Soyoon Hwang, adding another layer of personal expression to the project.

Blending influences from blues, psychedelic rock, new wave, and synth pop, SE SO NEON continues to build their own unique soundscape. While the lyrics are primarily in Korean, the emotional core of the music transcends language. “People will feel my energy and my soul,” Soyoon says of the track — a testament to her expressive artistry.

Co-produced by Soyoon and Kenny Gilmore (Weyes Blood, Sudan Archives), and mixed by Nathan Boddy (Pink Pantheress, Geordie Greep), “Twit Winter” dives into the complexity of time and human existence. Soyoon found herself revisiting songs she wrote during her teenage years — melodies and lyrics tethered to a younger version of herself.

“Every time I perform these songs, it’s like singing alongside the past Soyoon,” she shares. “It’s not about nostalgia. It’s about the Soyoon who wrote these songs meeting the Soyoon I’ve become. On stage, music dismantles time — it brings all versions of myself together.”

In “Twit Winter,” art becomes a time capsule. Soyoon confronts her mortality while questioning the permanence of artistic expression. “I imagine myself, much older, still singing this song,” she reflects. “That thought made me want to leave behind questions and sensations that could outlive me. I wanted to create signals for the future to find.”

The music video extends this concept visually. As Soyoon moves through different moments and emotions, a symbolic white box appears — marking the spot where “future” Soyoon will someday stand in 2065. The video becomes a deeply personal experiment in time travel — a message to the self across decades.

With “Twit Winter,” SE SO NEON doesn’t just release a song — they deliver an experience that captures the essence of time, memory, and identity. It’s a sonic time capsule, designed to resonate both now and in the years to come.
