Over 6,500 fans gathered at San Diego Comic-Con’s iconic Hall H were transported back to Middle-earth as Prime Video showcased an exclusive panel for the highly anticipated third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
Moderated by series star Benjamin Walker (High King Gil-galad), showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay were joined by key cast members—including Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charlie Vickers, Daniel Weyman, and newcomer Jamie Campbell Bower—to debut a brand-new teaser trailer and share exciting updates for the upcoming season.
Darker Stakes and Massive Character Reveals
The newly released teaser trailer signals a much darker tone for Season 3. With Sauron’s quest to forge the One Ring fully underway, his looming threat to control all of Middle-earth forces unexpected and fragile alliances across the realms.
Prime Video also announced several major casting additions for the new season:
- Jamie Campbell Bower as Galadriel’s long-lost husband, Celeborn
- Eddie Marsan as Thrain, King Durin IV’s older brother
- Andrew Richardson as Anarion, Elendil’s younger son and Isildur’s brother
- Adam Young as Marnûkh, a mysterious Orc with hidden motives
- Zubin Varla as Khamûl the Easterling of Rhûn
Simon Pegg Lends His Voice to The Balrog
In a special panel featurette titled “Bringing Season Three’s Creatures to Life,” viewers were treated to a look at the iconic creatures returning this season—including Fell-beasts, Mûmakil (war elephants), and Orcs. In a major twist, the legendary Balrog will speak for the first time ever, voiced by acclaimed actor Simon Pegg.
Adding to the Hall H excitement, four fully armored Nazgnagôl—Sauron’s Second Age ring-servants and predecessors to the Ringwraiths—made a surprise appearance on stage to pay homage to the Dark Lord.
Release Schedule & What to Expect in Season 3
Set five years after the fall of Eregion, Season 3 finds Middle-earth engulfed in war. As Sauron’s armies conquer surrounding lands, only Khazad-dûm, Lindon, and Rivendell stand between the Dark Lord and total domination. Meanwhile, deep in Mordor, Sauron toils in his newly completed tower of Barad-dûr to forge the One Ring.
- November 11, 2026: Season 3 Premiere (First 4 Episodes)
- November 18, 2026: Episodes 305 & 306
- November 25, 2026: Season Finale (Episodes 307 & 308)
