In his six-track release, the acclaimed rapper expands his sonic palette and tackles themes of maturity, identity, and creative freedom
Rising Filipino artist Young Cocoa boldly stakes his claim at the forefront of the alternative hip-hop movement with the release of his highly anticipated EP, STILL COCOA, out now worldwide under Sony Music Entertainment. The six-track project marks a defining moment in his career—embracing new influences while staying true to the unmistakable sound that first set him apart.

Renowned for his chill, hypnotic grooves, infectious rhythms, and off-kilter production choices, Young Cocoa refines his signature style with renewed clarity and intent on STILL COCOA. Produced by Brido, Jayson Franz, Joseph Gregory, Luke April, and emerging producer chocolateman, the EP blends fan favorites like “inboxxx,” “inboxxx,” and “Raspberry” with bold new tracks and rare cuts that push the boundaries of alternative music, rap, hip-hop, and bedroom indie.
“Outside of the message I’m trying to share in this era, STILL COCOA is really my way of planting a flag and cementing my lane as a pioneering alt hip-hop artist,” Young Cocoa explains. “It’s an evolution of my previous project, liv, luvv, cocoa, but with clearer messaging and themes that hit closer to home. This time, I’m more focused on experimenting and being intentional with my sonic and production choices.”
At its core, STILL COCOA is a deeply personal reflection on holding onto youth while confronting the realities of growing older. The EP signals a new chapter in Young Cocoa’s sound, writing, and storytelling—one rooted in honesty and introspection.
“The project explores the in-between of youthfulness and maturity—something people rarely talk about,” he shares. “Some people fall into adulthood, while others take time. I’m part of the latter. Every song reflects what growing up has taught me.”
Leading the project is “STILL COCOA (fly),” a pivotal track that captures both personal and artistic liberation. The song confronts the expectations and pressures that followed Young Cocoa’s early success, ultimately choosing freedom over limitation while reinforcing the EP’s central themes of self-belief and reclaiming one’s narrative.
“I held myself back for a long time because people associated me with just one song,” he admits. “It stopped me from exploring my full potential. Writing this made me realize it was time to let go and fully embrace my sound—whether people understand it or not. STILL COCOA is an invitation to follow me through the rest of my journey. Even if I’ve changed visually, sonically, and personally, I’m still Cocoa.”
The EP also introduces standout new tracks such as “WHEN DO I GET OLD?”, a candid confrontation with ageism in the music industry, and “flew2bali4ahug,” a vulnerable meditation on emotional distance from brothers.
“These songs came from feelings I’d only shared with my girlfriend and my closest friends,” he says. “Putting them out into the world is scary, but also exciting. Maybe someone out there can relate—and that thought brings me comfort.”
STILL COCOA is now available on all major digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
Fans can also catch Young Cocoa live at the STILL COCOA EP and Music Video Launch on December 5, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Shutterspace Studios, Quezon City. Admission is free.
