The pop-rock power ballad offers a lifeline for those who need help in times of despair and uncertainty

Filipino alternative rock legends The Dawn make a powerful comeback with their latest single, “Sa’n Ka Pupunta”, now available via Sony Music Entertainment. Known for their evolving sound and lyrical depth, the iconic band delivers an emotionally resonant anthem that sheds light on the silent struggles many face in an uncertain world.

At its core, the track is a heartfelt reminder that even in life’s darkest moments, we are never truly alone—someone is always willing to listen, to help, and to lift us up.

“It’s a song about uncertainties,” shares bassist and co-composer Bim Yance. “We’re all dealing with our own battles, and sometimes it feels isolating. Sa’n Ka Pupunta reminds us that help is out there—we just have to open up and let it in.”

The band—Jett Pangan (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards), Francis Reyes (guitars, backing vocals, keyboards), Rommel Sanchez (guitars), JB Leonor (drums), and Bim Yance (bass)—brings this message to life through a sound that is both intimate and explosive. The result is an introspective power ballad, rich in emotional tension and marked by The Dawn’s signature artistry.

Originally written by Yance, the song evolved through the band’s collaborative process, with each member shaping its sound and narrative. What began as a personal plea to someone on the brink expanded into a broader reflection on human connection and the quiet pain of growing distant from loved ones.

“It started as a message to someone who had lost the will to go on,” shares frontman Jett Pangan. “But with everyone’s input, it became about relationships and how we drift apart when we don’t communicate. It’s about love—desperate, frustrated love.”

Musically, “Sa’n Ka Pupunta” blends gritty guitars, a dynamic rhythm, and moments of tender vulnerability. The arrangement mirrors the emotional arc of the lyrics—calm in its verses, intense and pleading in its choruses.

“The quiet verses leave room for Jett’s voice and the story to take center stage,” explains Francis Reyes. “The louder choruses aren’t angry—they’re desperate. A cry for someone to open up, to say what they’re really feeling.”

Inspired in part by ‘90s power ballads, the track maintains The Dawn’s unique sonic fingerprint while embracing new textures and approaches. The band describes the process as “Dawn-ifying” the track—staying true to their roots while evolving their sound.

“We kept asking ourselves, ‘What would a great ’90s producer do here?’” adds Rommel Sanchez. “But we made sure not to make the influence too obvious. It still had to sound like us.”

Already making waves at recent live performances, “Sa’n Ka Pupunta” is connecting deeply with fans, both old and new.

“I hope this song gives people comfort,” says Yance. “Even in frustration and silence, music can be a powerful reminder that someone is always there for you.”

“Sa’n Ka Pupunta” by The Dawn is now streaming on all major digital platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
