The cast of TBA Studios’ highly anticipated historical biopic Quezon electrified weekend crowds at the SM Mall of Asia Complex on Sunday, September 14, transforming an ordinary mall day into an unforgettable journey through Philippine history. The spectacle gave audiences a thrilling preview of the film ahead of its nationwide release on October 15.
The surprise began at IKEA Philippines, where unsuspecting shoppers were treated to a live historical performance. Dressed in full costume, the cast delivered a powerful reenactment that blurred the lines between stage and real life. Leading the charge were Jericho Rosales as Manuel L. Quezon and Mon Confiado as Emilio Aguinaldo, who, together with co-stars Benjamin Alves, Karylle, Arron Villaflor, Cris Villanueva, Therese Malvar, Angeli Bayani, Jake Macapagal, Ketchup Eusebio, Jun Nayra, and Bodjie Pascua, captivated onlookers by embodying their roles right in the middle of the bustling store.
The energy carried on to a grand campaign-style parade from IKEA to the SM Mall of Asia outdoor activity center. With banners waving and a marching band in tow, the cast staged a rousing Miting de Avance. In full character, Rosales and Confiado delivered impassioned speeches on leadership and patriotism, rallying mallgoers as if they were part of a living chapter in history.
Later that afternoon, the spotlight shifted to the IMAX Event Cinema, where the cast and production team engaged business leaders and corporate partners in a thought-provoking forum. Joined by a historian, the panel explored Manuel L. Quezon’s enduring legacy and the film’s role in sparking dialogue about leadership in today’s world.
The day’s celebration culminated at the Manila International Book Fair at the SMX Convention Center with the official launch of Quezon: The Story Behind the Film. Rosales and Karylle were joined by co-screenwriter Rody Vera, cinematographer Pong Ignacio, and producer Daphne O. Chiu-Soon for a book signing and meet-and-greet. Published by Anvil Publishing, the companion guide provides exclusive insights into the making of the film and will soon be available in bookstores and online.
“We wanted audiences to experience Quezon beyond the screen,” said producer Daphne O. Chiu-Soon. “Through immersive activities and educational forums, we aim to give Filipinos a deeper connection to the story and values that shaped our nation. Quezon marks the third installment in TBA Studios’ celebrated Bayaniverse trilogy and will premiere exclusively in Philippine cinemas on October 15, 2025.
