South Korean actor Song Joong Ki made his highly anticipated first live appearance in Manila for the IAM Worldwide fan meeting—and the love from Filipino fans was overwhelming. Held at the packed Mall of Asia Arena, the event marked a major moment for fans who have long waited to see the Vincenzo and Descendants of the Sun star in person.
As he stepped out on stage, Song Joong Ki was visibly shocked and touched by the sheer number of people in the arena. His precious and surprised reaction showed just how much the warm reception meant to him.
“This is my first time in Manila”
Speaking to the crowd, Joong Ki said,
“This is my first time in Manila. When I was in Korea and Italy, I have Filipino friends there and they told me that Filipinos are cool, so I wanted to go to Manila to see and meet my fans.”
He also expressed how surprised he was to see the MOA Arena completely packed, clearly moved by the turnout.
A Closer Look at His Career
During a Q&A session with the host, Joong Ki was asked why his dramas connect so strongly with Filipino fans. He humbly responded,
“I’m very grateful for all your love, and I’m very curious why you love my dramas so much.”
When the question was turned to the audience, a fan shouted “Bad boy image!”—drawing laughter and smiles from both the crowd and the actor.
Joong Ki also talked about his hit drama Vincenzo, sharing that some of his favorite scenes included the vineyard fire in the first episode and the kiss scene in the final episode.
“Of course, many scenes are memorable for me,” he added.
When asked about a dream role he would like to explore in the future, Joong Ki said he wants to try various roles, specifically expressing interest in playing a “one-of-a-kind vampire” in a fantasy genre.
Upcoming Project: My Youth
Fans were also excited to hear about his upcoming drama, My Youth, in which he plays the role of Hae Sun Woo, a florist. This new project will showcase a different side of Joong Ki, and fans eagerly await his performance.
