Smart Video Calls powered by ViLTE

PLDT’s wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is taking everyday communication to the next level with the launch of Video Calls powered by Video over LTE (ViLTE) — allowing Smart and TNT subscribers to make high-quality video calls directly from their phone’s dialer, no third-party apps needed.

With ViLTE, connecting face-to-face becomes as simple as making a regular voice call — but with the added warmth and clarity of video. Whether catching up with loved ones or chatting with friends, users can now experience conversations that feel more real, personal, and seamless.

Unlimited video calls made simple

ViLTE video calls are conveniently charged to the caller’s existing voice subscription. This means Smart customers with offers such as Unli 5G+ or PowerAll, and TNT subscribers with SurfSaya, can enjoy virtually unlimited video calls without worrying about data consumption. The receiver doesn’t even need an active offer — as long as the caller has one, the call goes through smoothly.

Clearer, smarter, and more efficient

Beyond crisp video quality, ViLTE ensures stable connections even in busy areas, while being battery-efficient. Users can also multitask effortlessly — browse, stream, or use other apps — all while staying on the call.

This innovation builds on Smart’s landmark rollout of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in 2020, which revolutionized voice calling for prepaid and postpaid customers with clearer, uninterrupted audio. Now, ViLTE extends that clarity to video, powered by Smart’s extensive 4G and 5G network coverage nationwide.

“Our sustained network investments enable us to stay true to Smart’s DNA of democratizing the most advanced mobile experiences and making the latest innovations accessible to more Filipinos. With ViLTE, we’re giving our customers a clearer and more immersive way to connect,” said Lloyd R. Manaloto, FVP at Smart.

How to activate Video Calls powered by ViLTE

To start using ViLTE, Smart and TNT subscribers on Android devices can activate it in just a few steps:

  1. Go to SettingsMobile or Cellular Network
  2. Enable VoLTE / HD Voice
  3. Toggle ViLTE / Video over LTE / Video Calling to ON

Both parties should have VoLTE and ViLTE enabled and be within Smart’s LTE or 5G coverage. ViLTE also works over WiFi.

For the best performance, users are encouraged to update their device software and use ViLTE-ready smartphones from brands like Samsung, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, Tecno, Infinix, Itel, and ZTE.
