Lenovo has teamed up with Asian Hospital and Medical Center to accelerate the hospital’s digital transformation, enhancing clinical efficiency through the standardization of endpoint devices across the institution. As a key member of the Metro Pacific Hospital (MPH) Group, which operates nearly 30 hospitals nationwide, Asian Hospital is leading the charge in modernizing PC infrastructure across the network.

Located in southern Metro Manila, Asian Hospital is one of MPH’s largest and most advanced tertiary facilities. Leading the initiative is Frank N. Vibar, Chief Information Officer (CIO), who manages hospital information systems (HIS), electronic medical records (EMR), network and data center infrastructure, and all end-user computing devices.
“Our mandate is not just to digitize,” says Vibar. “It’s to ensure every technology deployed makes it easier for our clinicians to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.”
Tackling Device Instability to Protect Patient Care
Before standardizing with Lenovo, Asian Hospital used a mix of devices from multiple brands, which caused frequent slowdowns, crashes, and unexpected shutdowns. This disrupted workflows, including medical record access and documentation, generating over 200 IT support calls per month.

“A failing laptop in a hospital isn’t just inconvenient—it directly impacts patient care,” explains Vibar. “Slow or crashing devices disrupt the entire process, frustrating clinicians and patients alike.”
The hospital needed a partner capable of delivering predictable, reliable devices to support life-critical operations.
A Strategic Lenovo Partnership
Asian Hospital chose Lenovo for its reputation in enterprise-grade reliability, support, and innovation. Together, they aligned device types with specific workflows—finance, HR, nurse stations, ER units, and clinical areas requiring barcode scanning for medication workflows.
“By collaborating on user profiles and device types, we ensured every device deployed delivers real value to the user,” Vibar says.
Results That Speak Volumes
The transition to Lenovo devices has yielded remarkable results. Monthly IT incident reports dropped from over 200 tickets to nearly zero in Lenovo-equipped areas. Clinicians now experience faster, more stable access to HIS and EMR systems, improving continuity of patient care.
With fewer endpoint issues, IT staff can focus on advanced initiatives like cybersecurity, networking, data analytics, and AI integration. High-demand areas such as the Emergency Room received additional Lenovo units to further enhance workflow efficiency. Clinician feedback is overwhelmingly positive, with staff proactively requesting the replacement of older devices with Lenovo endpoints.
Driving the Vision of a Flagship Smart Hospital
As part of its broader vision, Asian Hospital aims to be a flagship smart hospital in the Philippines, attracting both local and international patients. Lenovo’s long-term partnership enables the hospital to pilot innovative healthcare technologies proven abroad and adopt solutions that improve patient care.

“If Lenovo has hospital use cases tested elsewhere, we’re ready to pilot them,” says Vibar. “Anything that can improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes is welcome.”
Through this collaboration, Asian Hospital reinforces its commitment to digital healthcare, reliable technology, and patient-centered care, setting a new benchmark for smart hospitals in the Philippines.
