Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios’ coming-of-age series earns early Season Two renewal ahead of debut
Prime Video has officially set July 1 as the global premiere date for Elle, the highly anticipated Legally Blonde prequel series from Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios. The series will stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

In a strong show of confidence, Prime Video has also renewed Elle for a second season ahead of its debut.
Set years before the pink-clad Harvard law student became a cultural icon, Elle revisits Elle Woods in high school, exploring the formative experiences that shaped her confidence, compassion, and unmistakable sparkle. The coming-of-age drama promises to unpack the origins of the young woman audiences first fell in love with 25 years ago.
“Twenty-five years after the world met Elle Woods for the first time, it’s a dream come true to share the story of how she became the unstoppable force we all fell in love with,” said Reese Witherspoon. “Discovering Lexi Minetree and watching her step into Elle’s fabulous shoes has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career. I believe the themes of kindness, authenticity, and believing in yourself will resonate deeply with longtime fans and a new generation alike. Bringing Elle’s high school journey to life with our incredible team has been a tremendous joy. I can’t wait to share Season One with the world—and to begin filming Season Two.”
Peter Friedlander, Global Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios, underscored the studio’s enthusiasm for the project. “Elle captures the heart, confidence, and optimism that made Elle Woods an enduring cultural icon, while delivering a fresh and deeply personal origin story. Ordering a second season reflects our belief in the creative vision and the remarkable team behind the series. We’re excited for audiences to begin this journey.”
Created by Laura Kittrell (High School, Insecure), the series is co-showrun and executive produced by Kittrell alongside Caroline Dries. Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter, Marc Platt, and Amanda Brown also serve as executive producers. Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect) directed the first two episodes and executive produces.
Lexi Minetree leads the cast as Elle Woods, joined by June Diane Raphael as her mother Eva and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt. The ensemble also features Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney, and Zac Looker. Recurring cast members include Jessica Belkin, Logan Shroyer, Amy Pietz, Matt Ober, Chloe Wepper, David Burtka, Brad Harder, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, and James Van Der Beek.
With nostalgia, heart, and a renewed sense of empowerment, Elle is poised to introduce a new chapter in the Legally Blonde legacy—one that traces the making of a heroine who proved that intelligence, ambition, and style are never mutually exclusive.
Elle premieres July 1, exclusively on Prime Video worldwide.
