Pop Icon Kesha Teases Upcoming Album with Two Pre-Release Tracks “Eat The Acid” and “Fine Line”

In anticipation of her highly-anticipated album “Gag Order,” set to be released on May 19th via Kemosabe/RCA Records, pop superstar Kesha has treated fans to two pre-release tracks: “Eat The Acid” and “Fine Line.” These songs serve as a bold introduction to the sonic and emotional direction of her upcoming album, produced by Rick Rubin.

“Fine Line” is an introspective exploration of the absurdities that exist in our ever-changing world. It presents a surreal perspective on the delicate dualities of life, highlighting how things can transform in an instant. This track aligns with the overarching theme of Kesha’s forthcoming album, which emphasizes the necessity of embracing both the light and dark aspects of life.

On “Eat The Acid,” Kesha narrates a profound existential breakthrough she experienced one night. In a recent album manifesto shared with Nylon, she revealed the origin story behind the song: “This night propelled me into a journey of self-discovery within my consciousness. My ego, my sense of isolation, suddenly felt like a small part of the whole. It felt dismantled… The morning after this experience, I wrote the first song for this album, which became the seed and catalyst for the entire project.”

Kesha also reflected on her mother’s warning against taking acid, sharing how her mother’s own experience with the drug had exposed her to an overwhelming amount of information. Kesha chose to avoid it, desiring to live in blissful ignorance and happiness.

Executive produced by Kesha herself, “Gag Order” is a captivating album that takes listeners on a stream-of-consciousness journey through the depths of the human psyche, delving into psychedelic and introspective themes. It represents an emotional exorcism, allowing Kesha to confront and accept the darker aspects of herself while finding empowerment in her own voice. The album showcases experimental and otherworldly production, coupled with vulnerable and poignant lyrics that push the boundaries of her previous work.

With over 14 million total album equivalents sold worldwide, approximately 6.9 billion audio streams and 1.7 billion video streams worldwide, and nine Top 10 hits on The Billboard Hot 100, including four number one singles at Top 40 Radio, Kesha has established herself as a global sensation. She has received two Grammy nominations and was recognized as one of Time Magazine’s Time 100 influential people.

Kesha’s “Eat The Acid” and “Fine Line” are out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment. Listen here.
