“My Love Will Make You Disappear,” the highly anticipated first big-screen pairing of Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, is off to a flying start, raking in a remarkable ₱40 million at the local box office as of Sunday (March 30)—just four days since its premiere.

The film, Star Cinema’s latest romantic comedy offering, also made a strong international debut, earning $200,000 in North America, nearly matching its opening day earnings in the Philippines.

After opening in over 380 cinemas nationwide last Wednesday (March 26), the film made headlines as the highest first-day grossing Filipino movie of 2025, with ₱12 million in ticket sales.

Following its domestic success, the film has rolled out internationally:

  • March 27: Opened in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, and the UAE
  • March 28: Premiered in Canada, Hong Kong, Macau, Guam, Saipan, and Brunei
  • March 29: Began screening in Europe
  • March 30 onward: Screening in Italy, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, and Kuwait
  • Coming soon: Austria on April 5 and Cambodia on April 18

Directed by Chad Vidanes, “My Love Will Make You Disappear” follows the story of Sari (Kim Chiu), a quirky woman cursed with a strange fate—every man she loves disappears. Her world turns upside down when she meets Jolo (Paulo Avelino), a heartbroken man who, upon learning about Sari’s “curse,” dares her to fall in love with him—hoping that he, too, will vanish and finally be free from his pain.

The film also stars a stellar ensemble cast including Melai Cantiveros, Wilma Doesnt, Lovely Abella, Benj Manalo, Nico Antonio, Migs Almendras, Martin Escudero, Karina Bautista, Jeremiah Lisbo, Atasha Franco, Kelsey Lasam, and Lucas Andalio.
