Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), the private operator of LRT-1, continues to champion education and community development as it renews its partnership with Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc. This collaboration will sponsor 25 students from Baclaran Elementary School Central for the 2025–2026 school year, providing them with essential English literacy support.

A memorandum of agreement was recently signed by Jason N. Magdaong, LRMC Head of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ); Lisa T. Bayot, Founder of Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc.; and Ma. Carina L. Bautista, Principal of Baclaran Elementary School Central, to formalize the renewed partnership.

The initiative kicked off with a Bin Turnover & Parent Commitment event, bringing together the parents and students who will be the beneficiaries of the partnership.

“We believe that a strong foundation in literacy is a building block for a brighter future,” said Jason N. Magdaong. “By continuing our partnership with Binhi, we are not only helping young students strengthen their reading skills but also empowering them to reach their full potential. This is our way of contributing to a more literate and prosperous nation.”

The program supports students aged 5 to 8, helping them develop reading comprehension and foundational literacy skills.

LRMC’s continuing support reflects its deep commitment to the well-being of communities along the LRT-1 line and its belief in the potential of Filipino children. This initiative directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) 4: Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Since the partnership began in 2020, the program has benefited over a hundred scholars, helping them overcome learning challenges and excel academically. Binhi’s effective teaching methodologies, combined with the training of public-school teachers and volunteers, have ensured meaningful learning outcomes for every child.

Through this continued partnership, LRMC and Binhi are demonstrating how private-sector support can create lasting, positive change—empowering the next generation of Filipinos through literacy and education.
