Lucasfilm has unveiled the new trailer and poster for “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord,” the upcoming animated series from Lucasfilm Animation, arriving exclusively on Disney+ on April 6, 2026. Two episodes will drop weekly, leading up to a special finale on May the 4th, the ultimate celebration for Star Wars fans.
Set in the aftermath of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the series follows the fearsome Darth Maul as he attempts to rebuild his criminal empire on a world untouched by the reach of the Empire. But his path to power takes an unexpected turn when he encounters a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan—an unlikely figure who may become the apprentice he needs in his relentless pursuit of vengeance and control.
Created by Dave Filoni and rooted in the universe originally envisioned by George Lucas, Shadow Lord expands Maul’s story into a gritty, character-driven saga of ambition, betrayal, and survival. The series is developed by Dave Filoni and Matt Michnovetz, with Brad Rau serving as supervising director.
