A new voice rises with confidence and grace as Majarlica officially begins a bold new chapter under StarPop, marked by the release of her debut single “Royalty”—a polished, modern anthem that reimagines love through a regal lens.
Behind the name Majarlica is Angelica Tagadtad, a Quezon City-born, Canada-based media artist, filmmaker, and singer-songwriter whose journey reflects both creative versatility and quiet determination. From starting as a health and safety intern on set, she steadily worked her way into the camera department, eventually gaining hands-on experience as a director’s shadow—developing her craft in production, directing, and screenwriting along the way.
Her growing influence in the creative scene has already earned recognition, including a panelist spot at FILCAN Creative 2023 and the FILCAN Music Award for Solo Artist of the Year—milestones that underscore her evolving artistry.
Before stepping into the spotlight as a recording artist, Majarlica honed her voice through covers and songwriting, building a foundation rooted in storytelling and emotional authenticity.
“If someone told me at 13 that I’d be writing songs not only for myself but for other exceptional artists—and sharing these stories with the world—I would’ve been surprised,” she shared. “From being a cover artist to a songwriter and now a recording artist—this truly feels like the start of something new.”
Self-written and produced, “Royalty” captures a kind of love that is steady, empowering, and mutually honoring. Drawing parallels to the balance between a king and queen, the track celebrates relationships built on strength, respect, and emotional security.
Beyond her own releases, Majarlica has also contributed her songwriting talents to other artists, including Belle Mariano’s “I, Save Me,” Kai Montinola’s “Self Love Era,” and Michelle Dee’s “Reyna.” She has also shared stages with acclaimed acts such as Parokya ni Edgar, Ben&Ben, and Itchyworms during their shows in Canada—further expanding her reach across audiences.
Balancing her music career with academic pursuits at the University of Toronto, Majarlica continues to push creative boundaries. Her previous releases, including “Siguro” and “Patawarin Mo Ako,” alongside acting roles in projects like We Shall Not Sleep (Ligaw, Digmaan), reflect her commitment to telling stories that resonate across mediums.
A former Miss Philippines Earth Quezon City 2021 titleholder, she has also used her platform to advocate for environmental awareness, notably through her single “Kalikasan.”
