Jordan Astra's New Funk Single Famous Precedes Album 'Time Will Tell'_2

Jordan Astra isn’t in the business of playing it safe—he’s here to keep the world moving. Today, the Indonesian-Canadian artist and producer releases his infectious new single “Famous”, a soulful, funk-driven groove that refuses to let you stand still. The track also marks the official countdown to his highly anticipated third project, Time Will Tell, arriving September 19 via Mind of a Genius Records.

The story of “Famous” began on the final day of a week-long songwriting camp in Limoux, France. After days of waiting, Astra finally stepped into a studio he had been eyeing all week—complete with a Steinway piano, vintage drums, and live guitars. Surrounded by rolling hills, horse stables, and centuries-old wine cellars, the setting proved perfect for creating something raw, soulful, and unfiltered.

More than just a song, “Famous” captures a feeling. It’s not about chasing fame—it’s about bottling the magic of a fleeting moment. With live instrumentation, demo vocals recorded in a single take, and an undeniable sense of spontaneity, the track radiates honesty and presence, celebrating the beauty of being fully alive.

“I wanted to capture the feeling of that week in the south of France: something fresh, soulful, and free. Channeling Pharrell’s ‘Beautiful’, Jamiroquai’s uptempo funk, and Anderson Paak’s R&B, I produced ‘Famous’ with Joris and Doane. The song’s energy came from that one day in the studio, and we kept it all intact—even the demo vocals—to preserve that spark.”

With Time Will Tell on the way, Astra is stepping into his boldest era yet. The album blends vibrant R&B, sunlit funk, and pop sparkle, echoing the effervescence of Pharrell, the swagger of Jamiroquai, and the charisma of Bruno Mars. Alongside “Famous”, fans can look forward to tracks like “Honey” and “Driving Me Wild”—all unapologetic celebrations of joy, connection, and human warmth.

Since going solo in 2018, Astra has built his path brick by brick, guided by his personal mantra: “Repetition Sharpens Blades.” From crafting beats in a university dorm to winning The Showcase Tour Finale, opening for Leikeli47, and landing on NXNE’s Top 40 Artists to Watch in 2022, Astra’s momentum has only accelerated. Today, his music streams strongest in Jakarta (#3) and Bangkok (#4), proving his global resonance.

Each release has been a step deeper into Astra’s artistry. His 2023 EP Man From East reflected on a homecoming after years abroad, while 2024’s Far Deeper explored the exhilaration and uncertainty of venturing into the unknown. Now, with Time Will Tell, he’s poised to deliver his most colorful, groove-rich, and ambitious record to date.

From poolside escapes to intimate backrooms, Astra’s music doesn’t just play—it transports. With his ability to build worlds where rhythm leads and optimism lingers, Jordan Astra proves that when crafted with passion, repetition isn’t just practice—it’s power.
