Milo Cruz and Migo Valid to play Bagets’ legendary daredevil in Bagets The Musical
The barkada of Bagets The Musical wouldn’t be complete without its resident troublemaker — the one who stirs the chaos but always finds a way to save the day. This time, the spotlight shines on Tonton, the character first immortalized by William Martinez, now reimagined by Milo Cruz and Migo Valid.
Milo Cruz: Adding Depth to Tonton
With his P-pop debut with Xerenade on the horizon, Milo Cruz is already broadening his artistry as he takes on the role of Tonton. The rising star gives audiences a more layered take on the fun-loving repeater.
“Tonton is a repeater, yes,” Cruz shares. “But if we move past that — past his kalokohans — we see he’s just a normal kid who has to learn life the hard way.” For him, high school isn’t just about carefree fun, it’s also about growth.
“Masaya maging high school. ‘Yung tipong pwede kang mag-procrastinate ng assignments tapos tambay lang pagkatapos,” he reflects. “Pero kailangan nating maintindihan na hindi tayo pwedeng maging bata lang habambuhay.”
Audiences can expect to relive the raw, simple joys of life before the internet — moments that shaped a generation. While Cruz admits he’s both nervous and excited, he’s committed to giving his all, drawing from his singing, dancing, and now acting, to bring Tonton’s story to life.
Migo Valid: Finding Himself in Tonton
For Migo Valid, Bagets The Musical marks a milestone: his theater debut. Known for films like Hold Me Close, A Glimpse of Forever, and Penduko, he never expected to land the role.
“First time ko mag-audition sa PETA,” he recalls. “Sabi ko, ‘I just want to make the panel smile.’ I wasn’t expecting anything, so being cast as Tonton is such a blessing.”
The daredevil persona resonates deeply with him. “I’m very much like him,” he laughs. “Back in high school, I had my wild moments, too. But those experiences helped me grow.”
He connects most with Tonton’s struggle of feeling left behind. “Minsan napapatanong ako kung tama pa ba ‘yung mga ginagawa ko,” the 23-year-old admits, reflecting on his late start in showbiz. “But like Tonton, keep moving forward ang mentality.” That mindset has opened new doors — including this major role.
A Shared Love for Performing
Both Milo and Migo are part of Xerenade, their shared passion for performing fueling their energy for the stage. Together, they promise to capture Tonton’s complexity — reckless yet caring, funny yet relatable — and make audiences fall in love with him all over again.

Bagets The Musical runs from January 23 to March 2026 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater, with Milo Cruz and Migo Valid as Tonton, and Noel Comia Jr. and Tomas Rodriguez as Gilbert.
