Fuse Financing, Inc., the lending arm of GCash, has introduced facial verification for GLoan, adding a stronger layer of identity authentication designed to protect users from unauthorized loan applications and fraud.

The adaptive security feature is designed to provide additional protection during elevated-risk moments while maintaining a frictionless experience for lower-risk loan availments. The new feature builds on existing safeguards, including the recently launched in-app Security Center, which provides user-controlled tools such as Lock My Account for immediate account suspension, Money Lock for securing wallet funds, and Subscription Center to help users manage and protect their accounts against prevalent threats and scams.
Stronger Identity Authentication for GLoan
Facial verification uses biometric authentication through a Selfie Scan to confirm that the person applying for a loan is the legitimate account holder. This helps reduce the risk of unauthorized loan applications and disbursements, even in situations where login credentials may have been compromised.
With these additional security measures in place, GLoan provides a stronger layer of assurance that loan applications are made with the account owner’s consent, helping reduce the likelihood of unauthorized transactions.
Fuse has also enhanced GLoan Protect with a new Loan Scam Insurance feature, providing coverage of up to ₱10,000 for select users.
The additional coverage is designed to help protect users from financial losses resulting from loans triggered by unauthorized account use, phishing, and similar incidents.
Free Health Insurance When You Borrow
GLoan also continues to offer GLoan Protect through GInsure, underwritten by Oona Insurance, providing eligible users with additional financial protection as part of their borrowing experience.
For every GLoan worth a minimum of ₱500, qualified users receive access to free health insurance, including a daily hospitalization allowance of at least ₱500 per day, or up to 10% of the total loan value, if the user is confined in a hospital for a minimum of three days.
With the expanded coverage, GLoan Protect strengthens the overall protection available to users by combining safeguards against unauthorized borrowing with health-related support, reinforcing a more secure and reliable digital lending experience.
“Building trust means staying ahead of evolving threats. At Fuse and GCash, we continue to invest in security innovations that protect our borrowers at every step, from identity verification to added safeguards and benefits like loan scam insurance and health insurance. Our approach is simple: put the user first, anticipate risks, and ensure that every transaction is backed by features designed to keep them secure and protected,” said Tony Isidro, President and CEO of Fuse Financing, Inc.
Building a More Secure Digital Finance Ecosystem
The move forms part of GCash’s broader efforts to build a secure digital finance ecosystem in the Philippines, where access to financial services does not come at the expense of safety.
By combining a preventive security measure such as facial verification with protective features such as scam and health insurance, the fintech company is taking a layered approach to user security that extends beyond convenience.
As digital threats continue to evolve, GCash, together with its partners and users, aims to build a more secure and transparent financial environment where every Filipino can manage their finances with greater confidence.
To check the status of GLoan Protect or file an insurance claim, GCash users can open the GCash app, navigate to “Explore the App,” tap “View All,” select “GInsure,” and go to “My GInsure.”
