A groundbreaking step in both construction innovation and humanitarian service has been set in motion as Caritas Manila partners with the Onocom Group to unveil the Philippines’ first-ever 3D-printed building. The milestone was marked with a ceremonial groundbreaking held on May 20, 2026, at the Caritas Manila Headquarters in Paco, Manila.

The multi-purpose facility—donated through the joint efforts of Onocom Japan, Onocom Philippines, and Providere Onocom—signals a transformative shift in how emerging construction technologies can be harnessed to serve communities and drive social development.
At the heart of the project is large-scale 3D concrete printing, a cutting-edge method that constructs structures layer by layer using automated systems. This approach not only accelerates the building process but also enhances precision while significantly reducing material waste—offering a more sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional construction.
As the lead social service and development arm of the Archdiocese of Manila, Caritas Manila was chosen as the project’s beneficiary in recognition of its long-standing work in uplifting vulnerable communities. Through programs focused on education, disaster response, livelihood, and poverty alleviation, the organization has consistently been at the forefront of humanitarian efforts in the country.
For the Onocom Group—renowned for integrating Japanese engineering excellence with modern, people-centered design since 1934—the initiative represents a meaningful application of innovation beyond infrastructure. It underscores a shared vision: leveraging technology not just for progress, but for purpose.
Once completed, the 3D-printed facility will serve as a dynamic hub for training programs, religious gatherings, social development activities, and disaster response operations—strengthening Caritas Manila’s capacity to serve those in need.
“This multipurpose center is more than just a structure—it’s a space where charity and innovation meet,” said Rev. Fr. Anton C.T. Pascual. “We hope it becomes a place that brings people together and inspires both compassion and forward-thinking solutions.”
As construction begins, the project stands as a powerful testament to what can be achieved when technology and mission align—proving that innovation, when guided by purpose, can become a catalyst for lasting social impact.
