First Filipino to Win StratComm Leader of the Year
In 1997, Ana Ruby Pista saw what others overlooked—a fast-evolving tech landscape with no dedicated communications partner to tell its story. While technology surged and companies searched for their voice, she stepped in to fill the gap, founding Ardent Communications (ArdentComm) with a clear, forward-thinking vision.

Nearly three decades later, that bold move has come full circle. Pista was named Strategic Communication Leader of the Year by the Centre for Strategic Communication Excellence, with the award presented in Brussels, Belgium on April 16. Part of the inaugural Strategic Global Awards, the recognition honors not longevity, but measurable, evidence-based impact that reshapes organizations and influences industries.
From its beginnings as a niche, tech-focused firm, Ardent Communications (ArdentComm) has evolved into one of the country’s leading integrated communications agencies, now powered by a team of over 50 professionals. Its portfolio reflects both scale and credibility, with global brands such as Airbnb, Toyota, The Walt Disney Company, Chevron Corporation, and Alibaba Cloud among its clients.
But Pista’s influence extends far beyond agency leadership. She made history as the first Filipino elected to the board of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, representing a global network of more than 360,000 practitioners. Her leadership continues locally as well—having served multiple terms with the Public Relations Society of the Philippines and now stepping into its presidency for 2026–2027. She also co-founded an AI Centre of Excellence under ArdentComm and has shared her expertise on the global stage, including at the World PR Forum in Chennai.
What ultimately set her apart for the award was not just what she built, but how she used it. For over 25 years, Pista has consistently leveraged her platform to elevate the communications profession—championing innovation, nurturing talent, and bridging local expertise with global standards.
Her journey underscores a defining principle in leadership: true strategy is not always about following established paths, but about creating new ones. By identifying a gap, acting decisively, and committing to long-term impact, Ana Ruby Pista didn’t just grow a company—she helped shape an entire industry.
In a field often measured by revenue and scale, she chose a different metric: how far she could bring others forward. And in doing so, she redefined what meaningful success looks like.
