AirAsia’s Cebu Hub Grows Introducing Direct Flights to Bangkok_1

AirAsia Philippines continues to strengthen its presence in the Visayas as it positions Cebu as a key international gateway, unveiling a new direct route to Bangkok. The move expands connectivity from Central Visayas, opening more travel opportunities across ASEAN and beyond.

Starting June 11, 2026, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline will operate daily flights (7x weekly) between Cebu City and Bangkok, with departures at 4:05 AM and arrivals at 7:05 AM. The early schedule allows travelers to maximize their day, offering a seamless and time-efficient way to explore Thailand’s vibrant capital.

Flights will land at Don Mueang International Airport—one of AirAsia’s major regional hubs—giving passengers access to an extensive network of onward connections. From Bangkok, travelers can easily reach 42 domestic routes across Thailand, as well as 60 international destinations throughout Asia.

The new route also enhances inbound tourism to Central Visayas, one of the Philippines’ most visited regions. According to the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, the region welcomed 31.5 million international visitors between 2000 and 2024. With its mix of urban energy, rich heritage, and natural attractions—from pristine islands to world-class diving spots—Cebu continues to stand out as a premier gateway for global travelers.

Since launching its Cebu hub in November 2025, AirAsia Philippines has steadily expanded its network, connecting the city to key destinations such as Macao, Kuala Lumpur, Caticlan, and Davao—underscoring its commitment to improving regional accessibility.

Expanding Manila Connectivity

Alongside its Cebu growth, AirAsia Philippines is also boosting its international services from Manila to meet increasing travel demand:

  • Flights between Manila and Taipei will increase with five additional weekly services starting March 30
  • Manila to Kaohsiung will add four more weekly flights beginning April 3
  • The Macao route will expand with three additional weekly flights starting April 4

With these strategic expansions, AirAsia Philippines continues to enhance connectivity across the region—making travel more accessible, efficient, and exciting for both leisure and business travelers.
