Jun Robles Lana’s upcoming stage production will star Romnick Sarmenta, Elijah Canlas, and Epy Quizon, as IdeaFirst Live! prepares a new lineup of theatrical productions through 2028.
MANILA, Philippines — The IdeaFirst Company is expanding its theatrical ambitions with a lineup of stage productions scheduled for 2027 and 2028, highlighted by Teorya ng Mga Tanong, a new play by Jun Robles Lana featuring actors Romnick Sarmenta, Elijah Canlas, and Epy Quizon.
The upcoming production was among the highlights of IdeaFirst Live!’s recently held press conference, where the company presented its slate of theatrical projects, including Die Beautiful: The Musical and Victorina.
With established performers, compelling stories, and a growing slate of productions, IdeaFirst Live! is positioning itself as a creative force to watch in Philippine theater.
‘Teorya ng Mga Tanong’: Three actors, one intriguing title
Slated for 2028, Teorya ng Mga Tanong brings together three actors from different generations and performance backgrounds: Sarmenta, Canlas, and Quizon.
The production is associated with Lana, whose name appears prominently on the official poster, and will be directed by Tuxqs Rutaquio.
Although the production’s plot and premiere date have yet to be announced in the available information, its title invites audiences to consider the questions that shape human relationships, personal choices, and the search for meaning.
The casting also gives the project a notable ensemble, bringing together performers known for their work across Philippine film, television, and theater.
For theatergoers, the anticipation lies not only in the actors’ individual performances but also in how their characters and stories will come together onstage.
From ‘Die Beautiful’ to ‘Victorina’
Before Teorya ng Mga Tanong arrives in 2028, IdeaFirst Live! is preparing two other productions for its upcoming theatrical calendar.
First on the announced lineup is Die Beautiful: The Musical, scheduled for June 2027 and starring Maxie Anderson and Viñas Deluxe.
The stage adaptation brings the title of the acclaimed Filipino film into the musical theater space, offering audiences a new format through which to encounter its story.
The lineup will also include Victorina, headlined by Eugene Domingo. Lana has described the production as “almost a one-woman show,” suggesting a performance-centered theatrical experience built around Domingo’s stage presence.
The company has also confirmed that a fourth stage production is in development, with further details expected to be announced.
A growing slate for Philippine theater
The announced productions reflect IdeaFirst Live!’s plans to develop a continuing slate of stage projects rather than a single theatrical offering.
The combination of a musical, a production centered on Domingo, and an ensemble-led play suggests a lineup designed to explore different performance styles and storytelling approaches.
For Philippine theater audiences, the announcements offer several productions to anticipate over the next two years, with Teorya ng Mga Tanong emerging as one of the notable projects on the horizon.
While audiences await further information about its story, staging, and premiere, the production’s featured cast has already given theater enthusiasts a reason to keep an eye on its development.
For now, the questions remain unanswered. By 2028, audiences may finally discover what Teorya ng Mga Tanong has in store.
