Digital for Good: From Farm to Chat program in collaboration with PRRM and WSFP begins nationwide rollout

Globe Telecom subsidiary m360 has taken a significant step toward empowering underserved communities with the launch of Digital for Good: From Farm to Chat, a community-driven initiative that combines digital literacy and healthcare to help Filipino farmers and fisherfolk improve their livelihoods.

Developed in partnership with the Philippine Rural Reconstruction Movement (PRRM) and the World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), the program officially kicked off in Naic, Cavite, bringing together technology, education, and medical assistance in a single day of community service.

Bridging the Digital Divide

The outreach began with a half-day digital literacy workshop led by m360 employee volunteers, equipping participants with practical skills to help them expand their businesses through digital platforms.

Designed for everyday use, the training focused on four essential areas:

  • Creating digital product catalogs using smartphones
  • Taking customer orders through messaging apps
  • Promoting products online through chat and social media
  • Practicing safe and secure online transactions

The sessions demonstrated how farmers and fisherfolk can maximize simple digital tools to connect with more customers, increase sales, and build sustainable income streams without requiring advanced technical knowledge.

Participants learned how to capture attractive product photos, write compelling product descriptions, and share them through Facebook, SMS, and messaging platforms such as Viber.

Volunteers also introduced practical communication templates that make it easier to confirm orders, receive payments, and maintain customer relationships.

Equally important, the workshop emphasized digital safety by teaching participants how to identify fraudulent buyers, verify payments before releasing products, and protect themselves from common online scams.

Healthcare Meets Digital Empowerment

Beyond digital education, the initiative also addressed another critical challenge faced by many rural communities—limited access to healthcare.

Through its partnership with the World Surgical Foundation Philippines, the outreach included a medical mission that provided free minor surgical procedures for qualified patients.

Up to 150 individuals underwent medical screening before receiving surgical care from volunteer surgeons, nurses, and healthcare professionals during the afternoon session.

By combining healthcare with digital capacity-building, the program aims to remove two major barriers that often limit economic opportunities in rural communities.

Creating Lasting Community Impact

According to Ramon “Mon” Hirang, President and CEO of m360, meaningful development requires addressing both technological and health-related challenges.

“Rural farming and fishing communities face two compounding barriers—limited digital access and untreated health conditions—that hold them back from fully participating in the economy. Removing both barriers will help create real and lasting change. Our mission is to enable every Filipino community to connect, communicate, and grow.”

He added that m360’s commitment extends beyond technology.

“At m360, we believe that how we work matters as much as what we build. We are committed to using our platform not just as a business tool, but as a force for genuine social good.”

Expanding the Program Nationwide

The Naic outreach marks only the beginning of a broader nationwide initiative.

Hirang shared that Digital for Good will soon expand to more communities across Luzon and other parts of the Philippines, bringing digital skills training and community support to more farmers, fisherfolk, and micro-entrepreneurs.

A Collaborative Effort for Inclusive Growth

As a Communications Platform-as-a-Service (CPaaS) provider under Brave Connective Holdings, Inc., a Globe Telecom portfolio company, m360 enables businesses to communicate with customers through SMS, Viber, WhatsApp, and other messaging platforms.

Its Digital for Good corporate social responsibility program reflects the company’s long-term vision of narrowing the country’s digital divide by empowering underserved communities with practical digital knowledge.

Supporting the initiative is PRRM, the Philippines’ oldest and largest non-government organization with more than 70 years of grassroots development experience.

PRRM President and Vice Chairperson Ed Dela Torre emphasized the program’s potential to transform rural livelihoods.

“m360’s Digital for Good program will make a big difference to rural communities and help farmers and fisherfolk keep up and adapt to the digital world.”

Meanwhile, World Surgical Foundation Philippines, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free and sustainable surgical healthcare, continues to help address the country’s backlog in medical services.

Its President and Co-Founder, Dr. Lester Suntay, highlighted the importance of the collaboration.

“With our Surgical Outreach Program, we try to help address the surgical backlog in our country by providing treatments to indigent patients in underserved communities. Through this partnership with m360, our volunteer medical team will be able to reach out and provide life-changing treatments to more vulnerable Filipinos.”

By bringing together digital innovation, healthcare, and community collaboration, Digital for Good: From Farm to Chat demonstrates how technology can become a powerful tool for inclusive development—helping rural communities thrive in an increasingly digital world while improving their quality of life.
