The New Home Robot Embodies LG Electronics’ Zero Labor Home Vision, Introducing Physical AI to Manage the Time-consuming Tasks of Daily Housework

News Summary:

  • LG Electronics will showcase LG CLOiD™, an AI-powered home robot at CES 2026, representing its “Zero Labor Home” vision where intelligent machines handle everyday chores through robotics and connected home integration.
  • LG CLOiD is a robot that uses AI and vision-based technology to perform household tasks like cooking and laundry, connecting seamlessly with LG’s ThinQ ecosystem to automate home life.
  • By unveiling LG CLOiD and its new actuator technology, LG takes a major step toward AI-driven homes, combining robotics, smart appliances, and Physical AI to make housework effortless and time-saving.

LG Electronics (LG) is taking a giant leap into the future of smart living with the public debut of LG CLOiD™, an AI-powered home robot, at CES 2026. Designed to streamline daily chores across connected appliances, CLOiD promises to reduce the time and effort required for housework, bringing LG closer to its vision of the Zero Labor Home.

Household Automation in Action
At CES, LG CLOiD will showcase its real-world capabilities—from preparing breakfast by retrieving milk and preheating the oven, to handling laundry, folding clothes, and organizing spaces after drying. This demonstration highlights CLOiD’s ability to understand human lifestyles and manage household tasks with precision.

Robust Hardware for Everyday Living
LG CLOiD features a head unit, torso with two articulated arms, and a wheeled base for autonomous navigation. Its adjustable torso allows the robot to reach from knee height upward, while each arm, with seven degrees of freedom, mimics the mobility of human limbs. Five independent fingers on each hand enable CLOiD to handle a wide variety of objects with finesse—whether in the kitchen, laundry room, or living area.

The wheeled base, informed by LG’s experience with robot vacuums, ensures stability, safety, and efficiency, with a low center of gravity that minimizes tipping risks around children or pets.

A Smart, Mobile AI Hub
CLOiD’s head functions as a mobile AI hub, equipped with a chipset, cameras, sensors, display, speaker, and voice-enabled generative AI. This allows the robot to communicate naturally, read the living environment, learn household routines, and seamlessly control LG appliances.

Powered by Physical AI
At the heart of CLOiD is LG’s Physical AI technology:

  • Vision Language Model (VLM): Converts visual data into structured, language-based understanding.
  • Vision Language Action (VLA): Translates visual and verbal cues into precise physical actions.

Trained on thousands of hours of household task data, these systems allow CLOiD to recognize appliances, interpret human intent, and perform context-aware actions such as opening doors or moving objects.

Seamless Integration with ThinQ
CLOiD works hand-in-hand with LG’s ThinQ™ ecosystem and ThinQ ON, enabling coordinated operations across multiple smart appliances for a fully connected AI home experience.

Introducing LG Actuator AXIUM™
Alongside CLOiD, LG is unveiling LG Actuator AXIUM™, a new line of robotic actuators—the critical joints that power robot movement. Lightweight, high-torque, and modular, these actuators are designed for advanced robotics, giving LG a competitive edge in the emerging Physical AI era.

Roadmap to AI-Driven Homes
LG’s vision extends beyond CLOiD. The company plans to develop practical “Appliance Robots” like intelligent vacuums and “Robotized Appliances” like self-opening refrigerators, aiming for a home where AI handles chores entirely—so people can spend more time on what matters most.

“LG CLOiD is designed to understand and engage naturally with the people it serves,” said Steve Baek, president of LG Home Appliance Solution Company. “Our goal is to make housework a thing of the past, giving customers more time to enjoy life.”

CES 2026 attendees can experience CLOiD firsthand in various real-life scenarios at LG’s booth (#15004, Las Vegas Convention Center) from January 6–9.
