The newly redeveloped Caloocan City People’s Park officially opened its doors following a ₱50-million redevelopment project fully funded by the Melco Resorts (Philippines) Foundation Corporation (MRP Foundation).

Located at 8th Avenue, Grace Park East, the newly redeveloped People’s Park is an addition to Caloocan City’s green spaces.

The revitalized park was formally inaugurated in February through a ceremonial turnover led by Dale Gonzalo Malapitan, Mayor of Caloocan City, together with Clarence Chung, Chairman and President of MRP Foundation. The ceremony also formed part of the city’s 64th Cityhood Anniversary celebration, highlighting a milestone investment in public spaces for local residents.

A Modern Community Space

The comprehensive redevelopment transformed the park into a modern recreational hub designed for families, fitness enthusiasts, and community gatherings. Upgrades include landscaped green areas, a children’s playground, outdoor fitness equipment, a jogging lane, picnic spaces, seating areas, and newly constructed walkways.

Additional facilities such as a pickleball court, security enhancements, and food kiosks were also introduced, creating both leisure opportunities and livelihood prospects for local entrepreneurs. The park is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., offering residents a safe and accessible space for relaxation and recreation.

Strengthening Communities Through Shared Spaces

During the inauguration, Chung emphasized the importance of communal areas in building stronger communities.

“We believe that shared spaces help create thriving communities where people can connect and children can play,” he said. “We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute ₱50 million to support Caloocan City’s efforts to uplift public spaces, which reflects one of the highest traditions of public service.”

Chung also acknowledged the support of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) and other project partners who helped bring the redevelopment to completion.

Supporting a Greener, Smarter City

The project aligns with Caloocan City’s “Greener City” goal and Smart City initiative, which aims to expand urban green spaces and provide residents with areas for recreation, wellness, and respite from city life.

The foundation’s undertaking is a support on sustainable urban development efforts.

The redevelopment is also part of MRP Foundation’s broader corporate social responsibility efforts. As the charitable arm of City of Dreams Manila, the foundation continues to support initiatives focused on environment, education, culture, and health, in line with PAGCOR’s mandate.

With its upgraded facilities and welcoming design, the revitalized Caloocan City People’s Park is set to become a vibrant venue for community gatherings, cultural activities, sports events, and everyday leisure—offering residents a greener and more connected urban space.
