The acclaimed Filipino band embraces a renewed sense of artistic ease and confidence on their dreamy, noisy, but melodic indie rock release

Filipino indie rock band We Are Imaginary is making waves with the release of their highly anticipated third album, now available on all streaming platforms worldwide via indie label floppydisks. The self-titled album explores deep themes of identity, emotional reckoning, and acceptance, offering listeners a raw, introspective journey through sound and emotion.

Produced by Joey Santos of Love One Another and Ahmad Tanji, the album blends dreamy guitar-rock with shoegaze and noise-pop textures. Expect to drift through warm, fuzzy soundscapes that build into moments of tension, doom, and angst. The album was recorded by Angee Rozul and Joey Santos at Love One Another studio, mixed by Santos, and mastered by Adam Haggar at Mount Olympia Mastering.

Frontman Ahmad Tanji describes the album as an internal monologue that starts in uncertainty and slowly unravels into moments of understanding and calm. Rather than chasing closure, the 9-track album embraces the notion that not all experiences need to be resolved.

“This collection feels more cohesive,” Tanji shares. “There’s a sense of comfort and confidence that came when we started laying down our parts. I guess that comes with growing with the band for 17 years and learning to trust the people you work with.”

On We Are Imaginary, the band explores extremes—soft, hushed passages give way to explosive intensity, and vulnerability lives side by side with restraint. This balance results in a record that feels unforced and natural. “It felt unforced,” Tanji adds, crediting the band’s longstanding chemistry for shaping the album sessions with ease and trust.

Designed as a complete listening experience, We Are Imaginary rewards those who take the time to fully immerse themselves. With its seamless sequencing, subtle shifts, and quiet moments, the album forms a gradual arc that’s best enjoyed in a single sitting—whether on vinyl, or through quality speakers or headphones.

Tanji further explains, “Angee Rozul captured our taste and style perfectly as our recording engineer, letting us lean towards a ‘90s sound. Joey Santos gave each song a dynamic and massive mix, stripping down each track to its essential elements to capture the best arrangement that fit the story.”

With this release, We Are Imaginary offers an authentic and unfiltered reflection of who they are today—assured, reflective, and completely at ease with their place in the world. This album is a testament to the band’s evolution and the lasting impact of their 17 years together.
