The acclaimed documentary is also the first Philippine-produced film to grace the prestigious comic book and multi-entertainment convention

Eraserheads: Combo On The Run is set to break new ground as the first Filipino-produced film and the first music documentary to be screened at the prestigious San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) in 2025.
In a remarkable cultural milestone for both Philippine cinema and the global music documentary scene, the film will not only be showcased on the SDCC stage, but will also be the focus of an exclusive panel discussion in Exhibit Hall 6BCF—a venue typically reserved for the biggest titles in entertainment and pop culture.
The panel will be led by Diane Ventura, the film’s director and producer, alongside Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia, whose story and legacy are central to the documentary.

“This is more than just a screening—it’s a moment of cultural crossover and artistic recognition that puts Filipino creativity on the global map,” said Ventura. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to represent our people and reframe the Filipino narrative on such an influential platform. This is our chance to tell our stories—full of humor, depth, and heart—on a larger stage.”
Following its successful theatrical release in the Philippines under Warner Bros., the DVent Pictures-produced film earned widespread acclaim from critics and fans alike. Billboard described it as “a moving documentary for the younglings discovering their music and longtime fans reconnecting with the songs that defined their generation.” Meanwhile, GMA News praised it as “a history lesson on an important chapter of Pinoy pop culture.” Its runaway success led to multiple extended screenings, showing in nearly 200 cinemas nationwide.
In celebration of its SDCC debut, Kid Heroes Publications has teamed up with the Eraserheads and DVent Pictures for a limited-edition comic book inspired by the documentary.
Titled after the film, the one-shot Combo On The Run comic book reimagines the band’s semi-fictional journey through four anthology-style stories where the Eraserheads are transformed into music-powered superheroes, battling zombies and saving the world—one hit song at a time.
Written by Patricio Ginelsa and Justin Quizon, and illustrated by celebrated artists Raymund Lee, Felix Morales, and Ardie Aquino, the comic merges mythology, fantasy, and rock nostalgia.
The SDCC-exclusive comic features two collectible covers: one by Whilce Portacio, known for his legendary work on Marvel titles like X-Men, The Punisher, and Iron Man; and another by Stephen Segovia, famed for his collaborations with DC Comics, available as the SuperManila Exclusive Edition.
Fans can now pre-order the comic via the official Kid Heroes website.
With a global theatrical release set for 2025, Eraserheads: Combo On The Run continues to raise the flag for Filipino storytelling—rewriting the rules of music documentaries while celebrating the enduring legacy of one of OPM’s greatest bands.
