The Bourne Legacy Asian Premiere in Resorts World Manila

Solar Entertainment Corporation, distributor of “The Bourne Legacy” movie in the Philippines invited me to attend the Asian Premiere of the movie in Resorts World Manila on August 5, 2012.  This Asian Premiere was 5 days before the movie’s US release.  The movie premiered in New York’s Ziegfeld Theater last Monday in the US.

I was a good opportunity to dress up since the dress code was formal attire.  It’s been a long time I have not worn my Mossimo Dutti suit I got when I was in Dubai.

Of course being a photographer/blogger, I was more interested in catching the celebrities and VIPs on the red carpet than having a photos of myself.  However, I said, why waste the chance so I ask my blogger friend Enzo of Juan Manila Express to take one photo of me for me.  Thanks Enzo!

The casts of the movie were not there at the premiere unfortunately.  They however had a video message before the movie started. However, Patrick Crowley, the producer of the movie, together with his wife who flew from New York,  were there to grace the premiere.

After the speeches, the movie began.  It was such as privilege that I was one of the very first batch (or 2nd to the US Premiere) to watch this movie in the world given it will be shown in the US on August 10.

Since the movie is the fourth of the Bourne movies, I think it helps to know a bit of the plots of the previous movie.  Not really detailed background but just maybe the major plot will help.  Although this movie is the least complicated in terms of plot and story, knowing the previous trilogy plot although optional, will help you appreciate the movie more.

As the movie progressed into the plot that involved Manila, the crowd got more excited and cheering.
It was exciting to see the Philippines in a hollywood movie as itself; not Vietnam, Thailand or other asian country.

The car / motorcycle chase was the highlight of the movie. It was action packed.  To have a car chase in Manila traffic seems to be an impossible feat to have in the city by still the movie managed to create an exciting one.

Overall, the movie was engrossing both on the storyline, the build-up, action scenes and the plot. I would highly recommend it not only for the Bourne fans but even to the ones who have not seen any of the Bourne movies before.  Added bonus for us Filipinos is to see the everyday familiar locations in Metro Manila on the bigger than life screens of Hollywood movies.

In my opinion, the movie gave the Philippines good and balanced exposure by showing both the shanties and the beauty of our landscape.

Patrick talks about the premiere

Yours truly with Producer Patrick Crowley

Thanks again to Solar Entertainment Corporation, especially to Romie, for the invitation.  I really enjoyed the movie and the experience of the premiere in a very classy atmosphere which is the next best thing to attending the premiere in New York itself.

Dear readers, once you saw the movie, please leave your comments about the movie.  Until the next premiere …..

I asked my blogger friend to give me the contact of the PR for me to try to get an invite just the night before the premiere. Only the same day of the premiere sumagot iyong PR. Just got lucky.

  6. Di nagdala si Juan Manila ng camera dahil ako raw photographer niya at nag red carpet na lang siya 🙂 I should be on the other side of the camera as well 🙂
