SM Group signed a contract with Michael Martinez, the sole Filipino representative last Winter Olympics 2014, for the latter’s financial support for his goal to compete to the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Michael, since he discovered his love for skating up to his competing years, practiced and honed his skills in SM Skating Rinks. To further improve his skating career, SM Prime Holdings, SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc., and the SM Foundation teamed up together to provide Michael Martinez monetary support for his training and needs to compete in the international arena.
The signing held last July 17. 2014 at the SM MOA Arena Premier Cafe and was witnessed by members of the press. It was timely since Michael has to leave for the United States to train in preparation to the Hilton Honors Skate America competition in Chicago where only top ranking skaters from around the world are invited. He currently ranks 27th in the world rankings.
The SM group is proud to support Filipino talents like Michael who has proven that Filipinos can compete internationally and can succeed in the global arena.
