Royal Canin Bolsters Commitment to Educate Filipino for Responsible Pet Ownership

Today, pets and fur parents took center stage at Royal Canin’s educational and enjoyable event, advocating responsible pet ownership in the Philippines. The event, held at Somerset Millennium Makati, Manila, aimed to equip more Filipinos with valuable information and resources to create healthy and happy environments for their beloved furry companions.

Over the years, pet ownership in the Philippines has seen a significant rise. In 2018, market researcher Rakuten Insight reported that the country boasted the highest pet ownership rate in Asia at an impressive 83%. Fast forward three years later, another Rakuten survey revealed that the Philippines held the highest dog ownership rate in Asia at 67% and a cat ownership rate of 43%. These statistics highlight the growing love and care Filipinos have for their furry friends, making events like Royal Canin’s gathering all the more meaningful in promoting responsible and nurturing pet ownership.

Gerard Poa, Country Head of Royal Canin Philippines

“Embracing the joys of pet ownership is heartwarming, but it is our responsibility as fur parents to ensure our pets receive the utmost care,” stated Gerard Poa, Royal Canin Philippines’ Country Head. “We have observed that some pet owners unintentionally overlook their pets’ needs and fall short in providing proper care. As leaders in Health Through Nutrition for cats and dogs, Royal Canin is committed to educating Filipinos about responsible pet ownership, aligned with our mission to create A Better World for Pets.”

The event provided an interactive platform covering a wide array of essential topics, including understanding health through proper nutrition for cats and dogs, navigating different pet life-stages, from birth to adulthood, and delving into the science behind Royal Canin’s renowned pet care products. The significance of regular veterinary check-ups was also emphasized during the educational sessions. Dedicated Royal Canin experts were present to share their invaluable insights and address attendees’ inquiries.

The event received an added charm with the presence of celebrity pet parents, such as Troy Montero, Aubrey Miles, Gretchen Fullido, Alora Sasam, and many more, who graced the occasion with their adorable pets, further inspiring responsible and loving pet ownership among all attendees.

“I’ve always been a pet lover, but this event opened my eyes to so many aspects of responsible pet ownership that I had overlooked before. I feel more confident now in providing the best care for my pet,” shared one of the celebrity influencers who participated in the event.

Royal Canin remains committed to promoting responsible pet ownership through various initiatives. Their Start of Life program focuses on supporting pet owners during the crucial early stages of their pets’ lives. Kittens and puppies go through numerous stages that can have a significant impact on their well-being later in life. As part of this initiative, Royal Canin Philippines has conducted Start of Life (SOL) activations with trade partners since January. These activations have taken place nationwide and will continue until August 2023, with the goal of educating trade partners and pet owners about Responsible Pet Ownership and the importance of establishing a strong health foundation for puppies and kittens.

Furthermore, their Take Your Pet to the Vet initiative has successfully provided thousands of free check-ups and care kits to pet owners through their Royal Canin Club loyalty mobile application. With pet medicalization currently at only 27% in the Philippines, this campaign emphasizes the significance of proactive healthcare and encourages pet owners to regularly visit veterinarians to ensure the overall well-being of their beloved pets.

In addition to their responsible pet ownership initiatives, Royal Canin’s commitment to tailored nutrition for cats and dogs is grounded in scientific research. Their products are formulated to meet the specific nutritional needs of different breeds, sizes, and life stages. By developing precise nutrition for pets, Royal Canin aims not only to provide the market with quality products but also to educate pet owners on the importance of customizing each pet’s diet to support its individual health and development. Through these comprehensive efforts, Royal Canin continues to be a leading advocate for responsible pet ownership and the well-being of pets in the Philippines.
