PROJECT 50/50
Last Thursday, November 29, 2012, I gave myself an advance birthday gift. I will be a golden boy, turning 50 this December 14, 2012. It’s been a long time since I wanted to add the 50mm f/1.8 to my lens arsenal. Before buying this new lens, I only have:
- Canon 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 Kit Lens
- Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 E
With this new “Nifty-Fifty” lens as it’s popularly known in the amateur/hobbyist circle, I decided to challenge myself to come up with 50 quality photos using the lens before my 50th birthday. Starting today December 1 until December 14, 2012 11:59 p.m., I have to post these 50 photos to my blog under the menu Project 50/50. That’s only 15 days to come up with 50 photos that I think deserves to be in this project. These 50 photos will be a mixed of genre from street, travel, food, etc…
I hope you will join me in this journey of challenging myself to produce 50 quality photos before my 50th birthday. This is my excuse/rationale to buy myself an advance birthday gift worth almost Php 5,000 pesos. It’s a challenge to level me up as well and make me focus also on my long time passion, photography.

I decided to go to Quiapo for a photowalk on Dec. 1 to jump-start this project. Quiapo is one of my favorite street photography location due to the busy activity of people their specially in front of Plaza Miranda.
While at the plaza, I saw this boy who was selling boiled peanuts and his eye catcher was having peanuts as earrings. The pair of earrings easily caught my attention and told him that I will take some photos of him. He willingly posed for a few shots for me. Afterwards, I thanked him and bought some peanuts from him. Those peanuts later was a big help to pass time in the bus ride I took home that was caught in heavy traffic.
