Last May 13, Seagate Technology premium brand LaCie announced the availability of its new line of LaCie Porsche Design Drives and Rugged mobile drives in the Philippines at Power Mac Center at Power Plant Mall.
LaCie Porsche Design Drives
The Lacie Porsche Design hard drives are housed in sleek all-aluminum enclosures reflecting the classy signature Porsche Design. Both the new Mobile and Desktop Drives is equipped with the latest USB-C connectivity for next generation computers like the latest MacBook®.
The new USB-C connector has both sides and reversible so that connecting the HD drive connection easy.
It has fast transfer speeds making file transfers and backups much faster. It is also compatible with standard USB 3.0 (Type-A) ports by using the included adapter cable.
With the power of USB 3.1, the LaCie Porsche Design Desktop Drive will charge a compatible laptop’s battery when the drive’s power supply is connected to the wall outlet. Via a single USB-C cable, users can power their notebook and access their drive at the same time.
Both the Mobile and Desktop Drives are all-aluminum enclosures, lightweight and sturdy. The Porsche Design is modern and looks very elegant. The solid aluminum enclosure is also scratch resistant protecting the hard drive mechanics and dissipates heat for optimal performance.
LaCie Rugged Drives
The LaCie Rugged family is an all-terrain portable hard disk storage for creative professionals on the go due to its durability, performance and data security features.
It is also the only product in its class to feature hardware RAID 0 and 1, which lets professionals optimize the product for speed or data security according to their workflow.
RAID 0 is a technology that writes data and reads data to/from two disks instantly to make it faster to write or read. This makes the disk faster.
RAID 1 writes the data simultaneously to 2 disk. The 2 disk contains the same copy. This feature halves the capacity of the storage but gives you additional security safeguard that if one of the disk fails you still have another copy. Furthermore, it makes reading faster as well because it retrieves from 2 disks at the same time!
LaCie Rugged RAID features both Thunderbolt™ and USB 3.0 along with two internal hard drives that are pre-configured in hardware RAID 0 for fast performance of up to 240 MB/s. With this speed, users can transfer 64 GB of content in less than five minutes, and even start to edit photos in the field with Adobe® Lightroom®. This is great time savings is key for field-based professionals such as photographers, video graphers or editors who collect and move tons of data onto external storage.
With large 4TB capacity equivalent to sixty 64 GB memory cards allows professionals to carry fewer drives and cards even on long day coverage that requires a lot of photos and video footage.
The LaCie Rugged RAID is tested to withstand drops of up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) and can be run over by a 1-ton car.
It is also IP 54-rated for superior resistance to dust and water splashing even during operation.
It also includes LaCie Private-Public software, which lets users password-protect the entire drive or only certain volumes with AES 256-bit encryption for privacy.
The LaCie Rugged Triple Hard Disk provides speeds of USB 3.0 and FireWire 800 but also with fully backward compatible with FireWire 400 and USB 2.0.

AVAILABILITY
The LaCie Rugged RAID, LaCie Rugged Triple and LaCie Porsche Design Drives will be available this June 2016 at select Power Mac Center stores and LaCie Resellers.
The LaCie Porsche Design Mobile Drive will be available in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities starting at PHP 6,990, whereas the LaCie Porsche Design Desktop Drive comes in 4TB, 5TB and 8TB capacities starting at PHP12,490.
The LaCie Rugged RAID comes in 4TB at PHP 24,999. The LaCie Rugged Triple drive is at PHP 8,899 (1TB) and PHP 12,999 (2TB).
