Photo Gallery: MTV Music Evolution Manila 2016 Press Conference

A press conference was held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila last June 24, 2016 before the main event. It was the 2nd installation of the live music event. We celebrated the evolution of pop music and it’s dance influence, hence its theme, “Can’t stop movin!”

Hosted by MTV VJs Alan Wong, Hanli Hoefer, Andre Paras, and Yassi Pressman. The stellar lineup showcased contemporary and iconic artists, international and local.

The international pop band OneRepublic, who released their debut album Dreaming Out Loud in 2007, that included the single “Apologize”, which received a Grammy nomination. Other hit singles of OneRepublic are, “Secrets”, “Good Life”, “Stop and Stare”, “Counting Stars” and “If I Lose Myself”. They are now currently working on a new album.

The L.A.- grown electric dance trio, Far East Movement, known for their hits, “Like a G6” and “Rocketeer”. Far East Movement also performed at some of the most reputable festivals like Ultra Music Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival. Far East movement loves making their own music and working hard on their next release slated for later this year.

The American singer-songwriter and Billboard Hot 100 artist, Bebe Rexha, who penned the song “The Monster” and became a worldwide hit for Eminem and Rihanna. She also co-write and sing the hit “Hey Mama” by David Guetta, Nicki Minaj, and Afrojack, and with G-Eazy in “Me, Myself & I”, the 2016 Billboard Hot 100 platinum smash. Bebe Rexha’s 2016 hit single, “No Broken Hearts” (featuring Nicki Minaj) set the stage for her.

The K-pop female group, Apink that started in 2011. In April of the same year, they released their first extended play (EP), “Seven Springs of Apink”. And they performed the song, “I Don’t Know” from the EP at Mnet’s MI Countdown. They released their first album in 2012, “Une Annee” and two digital singles, “April 19” and “Bubibu”. The group has fast-tracked their success over the last four years. The girl group is acknowledged well in the music industry with their more than 20 music awards, and more than 25 music program awards.

The Philippine pop superstar father and son tandem, Gary V and Gab Valenciano. The multi-talented musician, singer-songwriter, composer, dance choreographer and producer Gary Valenciano, entered the world of Philippine entertainment in the 1980’s. He has released over 32 albums in the Philippines and internationally. He is also one of the most awarded musicians at the most prestigious award giving bodies. He has held concerts in over 20 countries, he also toured in Asia, Europe, and America. On the other hand, Gab Valenciano, a notably talented dancer and performer, who would follow his father’s footsteps as a pop icon. The musician, drummer, performer, producer, percussionist, and choreographer started in Philippine live performances ad shows. He regularly shares his work online known as the “Super Selfie Videos” for his fans. His self-edited, scored, and produced, YouTube Channel for which he is dubbed as “Super Selfie King”. Gab received international attention for collaboration of choreography for the video release of 7/11 by the global pop superstar Beyonce.

Filipino pop darlings, James Reid and Nadine Lustre aka JaDine. James Reid, a singer, dancer, and actor debuted his self-titled album in 2013. His love for R&B is reflected in his recent album, “Reid Alert”. The hit dance track, “Huwag Ka Nang Humirit” and his hit duet with Nadine Lustre, “Hanap-hanap” is included in the said album. In January of 2016, he released his third single “Randomatic”; Nadine Lustre, a former member of all-girl teen group, PopGirls, was brought into the world of mainstream Philippine pop music with her debut in the movie “Diary ng Panget”, which also starred her real-life sweetheart, James Reid. The hit tracks such as “Paligoy-ligoy”, “Bahala Na”, “No Erase”, and Hanap-Hanap” was featured in the movie. Her hit song “Me & You” was recognized by SBS Pop Asia with a Titanium Award.
