‘On The Job: The Missing 8,’ Handa na para sa World Premiere sa Venice Film Festival

Bilang panimula ng pinakaunang Philippine Film Industry Month ngayong Setyembre, ang “On The Job: The Missing 8” ni Erik Matti, ang nag-iisang Asian film na napili para lumahok, ay ipagmamalaking irerepresenta ang bansa sa ika-78 na Venice International Film Festival sa Italya mula Setyembre 1 hanggang 11.

Ang crime thriller sequel sa “On The Job” ni Matti, ang “On The Job: The Missing 8” ay magkakaroon ng world premiere upang makipagkumpetensya para sa Golden Lion, ang pinakamataas na premyo sa Venezia 78 Competition, laban sa iba pang 20 na kalahok. Si Academy Award Best Director Bong Joon-ho ng multi-awarded South Korean film na “Parasite” ang mamumuno sa hurado ng kompetisyon.

Ang kalahok na pelikula ay nakasentro sa isang tiwaling media man na ginanap ni John Arcilla, na naghahanap ng hustisya para sa pagkawala ng kaniyang mga kasamahan na nakasagupa ang isang inmate-hitman na ginanap ni Dennis Trillo. Pinagbibidahan din ang pelikula nila Dante Rivero, Christopher De Leon, Lotlot De Leon, Leo Martinez, Joey Marquez, Eric Fructuoso, Vandolph Quizon, Agot Isidro, Sol Cruz, Wendell Ramos, Lao Rodriguez, Andrea Brillantes, Isabelle De Leon, Megan Young, Levi Ignacio, at Carlitos Sigueon-Reyna.

Sa Setyembre 12, ang tatlong unang bahagi ng anim na parteng HBO Asia Original series na “On The Job” ay ipapalabas ng eksklusibo sa HBO GO, na mayroong ilalabas na bagong episode tuwing Linggo.

Ang proyekto na tumanggap ng Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) FilmPhilippines Film Location Incentive Program (FLIP) at partner ng Epicmedia Productions, Inc., ang “Electric Child” ni Simon Jaquemet at ang Japan-France-Philippines co-production, ang “Plan 75” ni Chie Hayakawa ay lalahok sa Venice Gap-Financing Market, isang platform na dinisenyo para suportahan ang European at international producers upang siguraduhin ang financing ng kanilang mga proyekto sa pamamagitan ng one-to-one meetings sa mga potensyal at internasyonal na mga propesyonal.

Bridge, at ang Panel Discussion na “From the Philippines to the World: The On The Job Franchise and Exploring New Ways of Global Content Distribution” Ang Venice Film Festival Programmer Paolo Bertolin and moderator kasama sina “On The Job” director Matti and producer Dondon Monteverde bilang mga panelist.

Itinatag noong 1932, ang Venice ang pinakamatandang film festival sa mundo. Kasama nito ang Cannes Film Festival at ang Berlin Film Festival na kilala bilang isa sa tatlong pinaka-prestihiyosong film festival sa mundo. Parte ng Venice Biennale ang festival, isang mahalagang cultural festival na ginaganap ng bawat dalawang na tampok ang international art exhibitions, arkitektura, visual arts, cinema, sayaw, musika, at teatro.

Ang Venice International Film Festival na may temang “The Venice Biennale: Cinema in the Time of COVID,” ay tatakbo mula Setyembre 1 hanggang 11.
