The entertainment company responsible for the breakthrough of award-winning supergroup SB19, are set to launch another P-Pop star with immense global potential.
The promising TikTok sensation Mona Gonzales debuted as the first-ever solo P-pop artist under ShowBT Philippines and Sony Music Entertainment. She has more than 17 million followers on TikTok alone and amazing song covers of well-known anime soundtracks that went viral.
Mona marks her debut as a recording artist with “Always Remember,” which encourages listeners to appreciate their own worth and face the world with courage. It was produced by industry veteran Oh Won Lee, who has also worked on songs by K-Pop icons and country’s very own like SB19. She also personally describes her song as something like a soft pop rock. “The sound of electric guitar with a pop style beat is dominating through the whole song. The style is really new, but the sound is unique in its own way… I think that makes it interesting.”
Monna also shares about the things she wants to remember on her music journey.
“What I want to remember is how I started and where I came from, I will not forget about it… Kasi it’s a part of my life and if it didn’t happen, hindi po ako mapupunta kung nasaan na po ako ngayon.”
“In my situation, a lot of solo artists ay nandiyan. But yung difficulty is, I think for me is very high… I will do my best sa P-POP and also sa OPM. So, for me it’s difficult but it is possible… I think that’s what my journey is all about, being with my co-artists. And even if it’s difficult we will push through and make the P-POP Rise.” She said.
After thanking the media and her fans “Mooncakes,” the staff of the entertainment company surprised Mona with a birthday song and cake as the press conference came to a close. The young celebrity vowed not to cry but broke down when her parents drove all the way from their province to the event in Quezon City to celebrate her birthday and another momentous day as she successfully debuted as the first-ever solo P-Pop artist.
