Manix Abrera Signs a Five Year Contract With Epik Studios

Manix Abrera, best known for his comic strip Kikomachine Komix which appears in Philippine Daily Inquirer, recently inked a 5-year contract with Epik Studios & Viva Films. It was held at the Viva Office on the 6th of February. His comic strip appears six days a week in the said publication.

It was back in 2005 where Kikomachine Komix was first published by Visual Print Enterprises. The strip is written and illustrated by Abrera and revolves around a group of state university students and tackles about their friendship and life. The said comics Each character and story is filled with the author’s views and philosophies and some are from his experience.

 

Manuel Abrera or more commonly known as Manix, is a graduate of Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He also has a webcomic titled News Hardcore! that appears on GMA News Online weekly as well as wordless graphic novels “12” and “14”.

Long lines of autograph signing at comicbook conventions proves his popularity. In fact, he appears on TV commercials as product endorser. Manix also gets invited to speak in different schools. A solo exhibit at Shangri-la is his latest stint.

 

Manix has received awards and has been nominated by different award giving bodies: Filipino Readers’ Choice Award for Comics/Graphic Novel (2012) for Venn Man at iba pang Kalupitan ng Kapalaran! (Kikomachine Komix, #6), Kikomachine won in the 4th Komikon Reader’s Choice Award for Best Comic Strip Compilation (2014). Filipino Readers’ Choice Award for Comics/Graphic Novel (2012) for Venn Man at iba pang Kalupitan ng Kapalaran! (Kikomachine Komix, #6), Kikomachine won in the 4th Komikon Reader’s Choice Award for Best Comic Strip Compilation (2014), NBDB National Book Award Nominee for Best Design (2014), and Filipino Readers’ Choice Award for Comics & Graphic Novels (2014) for Ilayo Mo Kami Sa Apoy Ng Impyerno! (Kikomachine Komix, #9), and Komikon Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Comic Strip Compilation (2014) for Sanduguan ng Sangkalawakan! (Kikomachine Komix, #10)

Epik Studios

During the contract signing at Viva office, Direk Paul Alexei Basinillo of Epik Studios shared exciting news about James Reid’s upcoming & most awaited film “Pedro Penduko”. Also, Cignal TV released Tabi Po series which is created by Epik Studios.
