Get to Know The Squad Plus’ New Members: Angela, Sam, Anji & KD

Meet Star Magic's New "Squad Plus" Singers

From the original four members of The Gold Squad’s barkada, it’s now getting bigger and bigger as it welcomes more squadmates who are ready to conquer showbiz with their talents via The Squad Plus.

The Squad Plus boasts four musically-inclined artists – Angela Ken is a newly minted OPM sensation, while Sam Cruz, KD Estrada, and Anji Salvacion are regularly seen performing on “ASAP Natin ‘To” as part of its new breed of singers.

Recently, the four singers were launched as The Squad Plus singers through an online Media Conference.

Aside from singing, Angela, Sam, KD, and Anji have other hobbies and activities:

Sam Cruz, the daughter of well-known actors Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano, is a 10th grader in De La Salle Santiago Zobel both handling studies and her growing career.

When quarantine spikes, Sam tried cooking and baking for her family — which became a hobby and she eventually got used to it.

“It’s super fun because my family likes it when I cook and bake. They even tell me what to cook like, ‘Ate Sam, can you make this instead’ so it became a hobby,” Sam said.

KD Estrada, an 18-year-old grade 12 student and singer. He’s currently taking Accounting and Business Management (ABM) in Meridian International (MINT).

Passionately into music, KD shared how he really loves singing and playing instruments that it doesn’t feel like a chore for him.

“But besides that [singing] I like playing mobile games,” he added. KD is also that guy from TikTok who makes cover songs with his guitar inviting his viewers to duet it.

Anji Salvacion, an 18-year-old student and singer from Siargao takes up STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in AMA University Online Education.

“Since quarantine, I was trying to design [draw on] clothes. And I try to practice dancing — to dance,” Anji said.

Anji was introduced to Filipino viewers through a talent-reality show “Idol Philippines” in 2019 where James Reid likened her voice to sunshine.

Angela Ken, also an 18-year-old grade 12 student from Cavite, rose to shine when her unfinished song was uploaded to TikTok went viral.

After finishing the full version of the song, which she describes as an anthem of self-love and self-appreciation, it is now part of the soundtrack of ABS-CBN’s inspirational series “Huwag Kang Mangamba” and has received over two million streams on Spotify.

Prior pandemic, Angela has been a part of the volleyball varsity team in her school.

Although she’s not part of the first six, she’s simply happy when playing volleyball with her friends or teammates.

Meanwhile, on quarantine days, Angela got inclined to creating content on TikTok. “Pina-practice ko pong gumiling,” she laughingly said.
