Titled “Building Capabilities: Harnessing the Power of Digital Technology,” the workshop explored ways to enhance the effectiveness of digital technology in the financial sector and drive innovation in fintech. The event emphasized the role of the fintech industry in empowering communities, particularly those who are unbanked, through continuous innovation.

Martha Sazon, President and CEO of GCash, emphasized the company’s commitment to democratizing finance for all Filipinos. She stated, “While GCash has made significant progress in its digital finance transformation journey, there is still more work to be done. Together with our partners, we will continue to spearhead digital initiatives and explore innovations that can provide meaningful and essential financial services to Filipinos, regardless of their location.”

The workshop saw the participation of key partners and industry leaders, including representatives from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), local government units, and other organizations. The series of workshops, which began in February at the Diamond Hotel in Manila, will continue throughout the year, delving into crucial discussions and relevant issues within the fintech industry. These discussions aim to bring the benefits of the digital economy to a wider audience in the Philippines.

With over 79 million registered users, GCash, in collaboration with its partners, remains committed to introducing groundbreaking innovations that contribute to a better, safer, and more inclusive future for millions of Filipinos, particularly in an increasingly digital world.
