Exclusive Screening of Cinemalaya-winning Film ‘Blue Room’ Coming to Cinema ’76 in June

Experience the captivating indie rock movie “Blue Room” as it hits the big screen once again after its remarkable success at the 18th Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival. Starting on June 7, the film will exclusively screen at Cinema ’76 Film Society.

“Blue Room” follows the journey of a progressive rock band comprised of privileged teenagers who find themselves arrested for drug possession. Inside the confines of the enigmatic ‘Blue Room,’ they face a crucial dilemma—choosing between their freedom and standing up for their convictions.

At the esteemed Cinemalaya festival, “Blue Room” garnered multiple awards, including the Special Jury Prize, Best Direction for Ma-An Asuncion-Dagñalan, Best Cinematography for Neil Daza, Best Supporting Actor for Soliman Cruz, and Best Production Design for Marxie Maolen Fadul.

The film also made its mark at the 74th Locarno Film Festival, representing as a Pro-Online Delegate under the category of Producer. In addition, it received a post-production grant from the National Commission for the Culture and the Arts in 2021 and was a recipient of the Film Development Council of the Philippines’ CreatePHFilms Small Budget Production Fund.

“Blue Room” features the talents of actor-musician juan karlos as the band’s lead vocalist, alongside Harvey Bautista, Nourijune, Keoni Jin, and Elijah Canlas. The cast also includes Soliman Cruz, Bombi Plata, Jericho Arceo, Bon Lentejas, and Richard Cepeda.

Presented by TBA Studios, “Blue Room” will open at Cinema ’76 Film Society Tomas Morato on June 7. As a special treat, Cinema ’76 will host a talkback session with the director and cast of the film during one of the screenings on June 7.
