Debut EP Release: KIO PRIEST Unleashes ‘Mental Gymnasium’

Emerging singer-songwriter Kio Priest delves into introspection with his debut EP titled “mental gymnasium.”

“This album is a product of the mental gymnastics I’ve undergone in the past few months. These are candid and resounding responses to reflections on a convenient love affair, reasons not to give up on myself, the necessity of letting go, reasons to stay, and simply ‘why,'” expressed the queer artist.

He further elaborated, stating, “Navigating through all these emotions feels like engaging in mental gymnastics.”

Released under StarPop, the EP comprises six tracks, with the standout piece being “txt you 1st,” a contemplation on self-preservation featuring fellow Kapamilya artist Anji Salvacion.

Additional tracks include “cherry blossoms,” “cut u off,” “overthinking,” and previously unveiled singles “cool with you” and “night time prince,” all of which were both written and produced by Kio.

Before embarking on his singing career, Kio Priest made a mark by creating commercial jingles for various brands and penning songs for notable Filipino artists such as Nadine Lustre, James Reid, Enchong Dee, and Matteo Guidicelli.

As he pursues a solo journey, Kio aims to produce music that mirrors real-life experiences, proudly representing the LGBTQIA+ community. His EP “mental gymnasium” serves as a platform for authentic storytelling and self-expression.
