Quick Review
I personally liked the movie. The great storytelling and direction by Sean Ellis made this movie a favorite and successful at the Sundance Festival. The casting of Jake Macapagal for the role of Oscar Ramirez was a very good decision. The role perfectly fits him and Jake’s portrayal of the character was superb!
Although the familiarity of Metro Manila, the place, the visual landscape painted by Sean Ellis had lesser impact on me compared to the impact if would have to non-Filipino audiences, the director / cinematographer has done a great job in contrasting the modern buildings of the business districts vis a vis to the slum impoverished areas where the plot played.
I rate it 4/5 for its plot, storytelling and the great ending making this one of the best heist movie. I think Fox International Productions would have not bought the rights for a remake if the storyline was less than amazing!
