Community Pantry in Maginhawa Forces to Pause Operations Due to Red-tagging

Volunteers of the pantry in Maginhawa was forced to stop their operations today because of the red tagging and attacks happening against the organizer and volunteers of the pantry, on April 24

The redtagging and attacks came from some agency of the government connecting the efforts of the volunteers to the New People’s Army (NPA)

This is according to Ana Patricia Non, after different incidents of red-tagging in Maginhawa Community Pantry and other pantries that was operating because of the Covid-19 lockdown

“Hindi magandang balita. [P]ause po muna ang #MaginhawaCommunityPantry para sa safety po namin ng mga volunteers. Malungkot po dahil hindi muna maipapamahagi ang goods na inihanda namin buong maghapon dahil po sa #RedTagging na nagaganap,” She said

People who were lining up to get food was asked to go home because there will be no food distribution for today, leaving them hungry.

Virginia Vinluana, one of the people who were in line said, that they are refusing to go home because they are hoping that the volunteers pity them and give them food or even rice for them to eat.

Nenita De Castro, also one of the people in line also said the same thing and is hoping for the pantry to be open today.

This community pantry helped a lot of people and closing this means making it worse for everybody.

Volunteers in Maginhawa are asking for help to the people to stop the red-tagging as they only want the best and offer some help to some people who are in need.
