Ethan Rose, the CEO of Pouch.ph and lead organizer of the event, expressed excitement about the potential of Bitcoin in the Philippines, which ranks second globally in Bitcoin adoption. “We want Boracay to be the epicenter of this advancement in the country,” he said.

The event will feature two days of keynote speakers discussing the latest developments in the lightning network and sharing their ongoing projects and outlook on the Bitcoin ecosystem. There will also be a parallel education track hosted by Bitskwela, covering topics such as how to get businesses to sign up for Bitcoin payments and how to gain complete control of one’s Bitcoins.

Aside from the speaking conferences, the Bitcoin Island Retreat will also hold official after-parties and networking events in venues that accept Bitcoin. Attendees can also participate in a Bitcoin treasure hunt, where the first person to find the 12-word seed phrase to a private key owned by Dread Pirate Nakamoto will win a Bitcoin bounty.

The event is co-presented by Coins.ph and sponsored by Bitskwela and Orange Pill App. Conference passes are available for purchase on the Bitcoin Island Retreat official website, with ticket prices increasing every Friday.
