airasia Superapp Takes the Crown: Asia’s Premier Travel Booking App

Award solidifies its position as a travel app, in line with its vision of being the region’s leading one-stop platform for travel with the best value

The airasia Superapp, soon to be rebranded as airasia MOVE, has earned the prestigious title of ‘Asia’s Best Travel Booking App’ at the 2023 World Travel Tech Awards, solidifying its position as the preeminent one-stop travel platform in the region.

This accolade swiftly follows the app’s recent victory as ‘Asia’s Leading Online Travel Agency (OTA)’ at the World Travel Awards 2023. Notably, both recognitions were bestowed upon airasia Superapp during its inaugural nominations in their respective categories.

Furthermore, airasia Superapp has achieved yet another double triumph, securing the titles of ‘World’s Best Low-Cost Airline App’ and ‘World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Website’ for the second consecutive year. These distinctions underscore the app’s continued commitment to excellence.

The World Travel Tech Awards, an annual event closely linked to the World Travel Awards, aims to acknowledge, reward, and celebrate excellence in travel technology. Both sets of awards are determined by votes from industry experts and global consumers, underscoring their status as truly world-class acknowledgments.

Tan Mai Yin, Chief Commercial Officer of airasia Superapp, expressed her appreciation, stating, “The recognition as ‘Asia’s Best Travel Booking App’ by the World Travel Tech Awards is a testament to the efforts we have put in to provide our app users with a seamless travel experience. We are delighted to receive this award, especially considering it has been only a few short years since our complete transformation into an OTA and travel platform. As an OTA, we have established partnerships with notable international carriers such as Etihad, ANA, Citilink, Bangkok Airways, Myanmar Airways International, Air Mauritius, and more. Furthermore, our direct hotel inventory has seen remarkable growth, increasing by 98% in the past year.”

She also shared insights into the forthcoming rebrand into airasia MOVE, scheduled for December, emphasizing the focus on delivering an enhanced user experience with seamless access to travel and financial services through BigPay, all within a single platform. Tan Mai Yin expressed gratitude to everyone who voted for them and conveyed her enthusiasm for the future.

Mike Sawicki, Director of the World Travel Tech Awards, praised airasia Superapp’s achievements, highlighting how the brand is setting the standard in online travel and commending the dedication of the entire airasia Superapp team.
