Nearly 2,000 gather nationwide as ZCMC celebrates 36 years of free Bible education

As Filipinos observed Independence Day and reflected on the meaning of freedom, Zion Christian Mission Center (ZCMC), an international provider of free Bible education, commemorated its 36th Founding Anniversary with simultaneous celebrations in 27 locations across the Philippines.

Nearly 2,000 pastors, instructors, students, alumni, volunteers, and guests took part in the nationwide gatherings, with major events held in Pasig City, Cavite, Pampanga, Cebu, and Davao. The anniversary highlighted the organization’s continuing mission of promoting biblical education, evangelism, and spiritual growth through the study of God’s Word.

Carrying the theme “One Faith, One Light, We Rise and Shine,” the celebration served as both a thanksgiving for ZCMC’s 36 years of ministry and a reaffirmation of its commitment to making Bible education freely accessible. Organizers said the theme symbolizes the light found in God’s Word—a truth they believe guides believers toward hope, purpose, and a life of faith while encouraging them to become a source of light in their own communities.

The event also drew meaningful parallels between the country’s celebration of Independence Day and the biblical perspective on freedom, emphasizing that lasting freedom is rooted in faith, the pursuit of truth, and living according to God’s purpose.

“As the Philippines celebrates Independence Day, we are reminded that freedom is one of humanity’s most cherished blessings,” said Abigail Saguid, president of ZCMC Philippines. “While many define freedom as the ability to do whatever they want, true freedom comes from knowing God’s truth and living according to His purpose. It is experienced when people are freed from spiritual confusion and guided by the light of God’s Word. Through evangelism and Bible education, we help people discover that truth, as well as the hope and salvation God has promised to all.”

Throughout the celebrations, participants shared how studying the Bible has deepened their faith and strengthened their understanding of Scripture. Organizers said the anniversary was not only an opportunity to celebrate the institution’s milestones but also to renew its commitment to helping more people grow spiritually through biblical learning.

The gatherings likewise emphasized unity among believers, highlighting how individuals from different backgrounds can come together through a shared faith and a common mission. According to organizers, the anniversary theme reflects this vision of believers serving as lights within their families, churches, and communities through faith and service.
