The hotel’s new Barbecue Night opened side by side with “Radiance by the Bay,” the pageant’s first major showcase, at Garden by the Bay

Wyndham Garden Manila Bay brought together a sizzling dining experience and a celebration of beauty on October 3, launching Barbecue Night at Garden by the Bay alongside “Radiance by the Bay,” the first major showcase of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2026. The event gave guests the chance to enjoy a generous dinner spread while watching the pageant’s newest candidates take the stage.

The two launches were planned to complement each other. Chef Andrew Ko, the hotel’s Director of Food and Beverage and Executive Chef, shared that the Barbecue Night concept had been in development for some time, and partnering with Mutya ng Pilipinas made the occasion the perfect opportunity to introduce it.

“We really prepared for this,” Ko said.

Mutya ng Pilipinas, one of the Philippines’ longest-running national pageants, brought its 2026 candidates to the hotel for their first major showcase of the season. With the stage and dining area set within the garden venue, guests could enjoy their meals without missing the evening’s program.

As the candidates took the spotlight, the hotel’s kitchen team fired up the grill, serving two styles of barbecue under Ko’s direction. Filipino street-style barbecue was served outdoors beside the hotel’s new al fresco mobile bar, while the international selection featured sausages and steaks cooked alongside salmon and tuna.

“It’s a mix of international and Filipino,” he said.

Every plate was paired with sinamak, Iloilo’s signature spiced vinegar. Across Western Visayas, this sharp, flavorful condiment is a traditional companion to charcoal-grilled dishes, bringing together chilies, garlic, ginger, and langkawas. At Wyndham Garden Manila Bay, the sinamak is made in-house.

“We make our sinamak from scratch,” Ko said. “We ferment it one to two weeks before we serve it.”

The barbecue selection was just one highlight of a more extensive buffet. Carving stations offered a variety of meats and seafood, while a grazing table near the dessert section featured pastries, cakes, fresh fruits, and local donuts.

The hotel also unveiled its al fresco mobile bar that evening. Serving cocktails, mocktails, and beer, the new addition remains part of the hotel’s weekend dinner experience.

The pageant segment of the evening concluded with the hotel taking the stage. Later in the program, Resident Manager Ms. Charmaine Sy presented the evening’s award on behalf of Wyndham Garden Manila Bay.

While the pageant showcase marked a special occasion, the barbecue experience is here to stay. Barbecue Night is now available every Friday and Saturday at Garden by the Bay for ₱1,288 per person, inclusive of food and drinks. According to Ko, the dinner experience is open to everyone, whether they are staying at the hotel or visiting from outside.

The buffet will also feature a rotating monthly theme, with the spread introduced at the October launch set to give way to a new selection in November.

Ko’s invitation to diners was straightforward: “There’s a big spread and a lot for you to taste,” he said. “What we expect is that you will enjoy yourselves.”
