WWF online press launch for the National Baseline Study entitled ‘Clean Ports, Clean Oceans: Improving Port Waste Management in the Philippines’.

Last January 28, 2022, Friday, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF)  Philippines officially had an online press launch for the National Baseline Study. WWF together with the Grieg Foundation has worked together to blast off a launch entitled  ‘Clean Ports, Clean Oceans: Improving Port Waste Management in the Philippines’.

This is a three-year project that has a goal  to enhance the port waste management in the country to lessen the flow of plastic waste entering nature and the ocean. We work to reduce at least 50% of plastic waste leakage in the 3 ports and these are; Manila North Port, Port of Batangas, and the Port of Cagayan de Oro. This project has three generated wastes,  these are Vessel-generated waste, Port-generated waste, and Community-generated waste.

Furthermore, this project aims to furnish inputs to the implementation of the national plan of action on marine litter and to enable the scale-up of tested solutions in other ports in the country but also all around the world.

For us to be able to help, we must avoid the use of plastics to lessen the plastic waste leakage and to save the environment. By doing these little ways, each one of us can amend in taking care of this planet for us and for the next future generations.
