Headlining the release is their new song “Hit The Sky,” accompanied by fan-favorite tracks “Gospel Oak” and “Hammond Song.”
The band has officially completed their latest B-sides era with the arrival of “Hit The Sky.” Released via Columbia Records, the track marks the third and final installment of The Clearing: B Sides, following their previous releases “Gospel Oak” and a collaborative cover of The Roches’ “Hammond Song” featuring Julia Cumming (Sunflower Bean) and Bria Salmena. To celebrate the launch, Wolf Alice also sat down with Zane Lowe for an exclusive interview on Apple Music Daily.
The track originally began as a demo recorded in Seven Sisters during the initial studio sessions for the band’s fourth album, The Clearing, which went straight to Number 1. Over a year after the album’s critically acclaimed debut last August, the band revisited and finalized the song.
Reflecting on the track’s origins and meaning, frontwoman Ellie Rowsell shared: “Hit the sky is a demo we made in Seven Sisters that we revamped a bit with James Gavin on fiddle and Julia Cumming on BV’s a year or so later. It’s about encouraging someone you love to be themselves, because you can see how fabulous they are!”
Touching upon the origins of the B-sides release, Ellie previously noted: “These are a few songs we made during The Clearing that didn’t make it on the final record, but are ones we love very much – we’re happy to have found a home for them for you to hear. Enjoy”
The arrival of The Clearing: B Sides comes right on the heels of the band’s massive homecoming show at Finsbury Park, marking the largest headline performance of their career. Currently in the middle of a packed summer festival run, the group also made a stop in New York City for their biggest headline show in the city to date at Pier 17. During that performance, Julia Cumming and Bria Salmena joined Wolf Alice on stage for a live rendition of “Hammond Song”—the collection’s second single, which originated from the recording sessions of their chart-topping 2025 album. After wrapping up the August bank holiday weekend by headlining the Green Man Festival, the band will head across the Atlantic to support Olivia Rodrigo on her US tour starting this September.
The group solidified their status in the global music scene with the August 2025 release of their fourth studio album, The Clearing. The ambitious and emotionally charged record earned widespread critical acclaim, shot to Number 1 on the UK album charts, and secured a spot on the prestigious Mercury Music Prize shortlist. This marked their fourth consecutive nomination across a decade-long career, making Wolf Alice the first band in Mercury Prize history to boast a 100% nomination rate for their entire discography. Their critical hot streak continued into the 2026 BRIT Awards, where they took home Group of the Year alongside nominations for Best Alternative/Rock Act and Mastercard Album of the Year.
