Disney+ and National Geographic recently unveiled the premiere of the highly anticipated docuseries “Pole To Pole with Will Smith” at the iconic Natural History Museum in London. The seven-part series, launching today, January 14, takes viewers on an extraordinary journey with Will Smith, traversing all seven continents in a quest for adventure, knowledge, and self-discovery. Over the course of five years, Will ventures from the icy expanses of Antarctica to the lush jungles of the Amazon, the towering peaks of the Himalayas, the scorching deserts of Africa, the remote islands of the Pacific, and the freezing landscapes of the Arctic.
The premiere event was graced by Will Smith himself, alongside series contributors like Polar Athlete Richard Parks, Venomologist Dr. Bryan Fry, Polar Ecologist Allison Fong, and Linguist Dr. Mary Walworth. Executive producers Terence Carter and Miguel Melendez from Westbrook Studios, as well as Jane Root, Peter Lovering, Tom Williams, and Ari Handel from Nutopia, were also in attendance. The evening saw a star-studded crowd, including broadcasters Ade Adepitan, Hannah Stitfall, Joelah Noble, and Ayo Akinwolere, alongside zoologist Megan McCubbin and National Geographic explorers such as Bertie Gregory, Lia Kajiki, Tamana Ayazi, Melanie Gouby, and Anastasia Taylor Lind.
After an introduction from wildlife presenter and National Geographic explorer Liz Bonnin, guests were treated to an exhilarating first episode of the series. In this debut, Will embarks on an epic journey to the South Pole, where temperatures plummet to a bone-chilling minus 100°F. The episode follows his daring trek across vast icefields and ice cliffs, battling fierce winds as he ascends the heights, with the expert guidance of one of the world’s top polar athletes, Richard Parks. The screening was followed by an engaging panel discussion featuring Will Smith, Richard Parks, Dr. Bryan Fry, and Dr. Allison Fong, all hosted by Liz Bonnin.
Guided by the memory of his late mentor, Will Smith embarks on a 100-day adventure filled with jaw-dropping challenges.
