UnionBank Powers Cashless Transactions at the 15th Philippine Food Expo

The Philippine Food Processors and Exporters Organization, Inc. (Philfoodex), the organizer of the annual Philippine Food Expo, has teamed up with Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) to introduce cashless payments at the 15th edition of the expo held from April 28 to 30 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Through the integration of UnionBank’s integrated payments gateway UPAY, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) participating in the expo enjoyed convenient and secure transactions with customers via QRPH. UPAY, the seamless platform offered by UnionBank, consolidated a wide range of payment collection options, enabling hassle-free cashless transactions for customers.

Customers attending the event experienced the ease of cashless payments through various channels, as UPAY accepted payments from partner banks, e-wallets, and other e-payment service providers.

Jaypee Soliman, Senior Vice President and Head of SME and Micropreneurs Segment at UnionBank, highlighted the significance of UPAY for MSMEs, stating, “With UPAY, accepting payments from customers is now easier and more convenient for the MSMEs of the 15th Philippine Food Expo. More importantly, this is an important step in their digital transformation, providing numerous long-term benefits to their business.”

As part of their commitment to the “Tech-Up Pilipinas” advocacy, UnionBank continues to innovate in providing cashless solutions that benefit MSMEs across the country.

In addition to facilitating cashless payments, UnionBank deployed their Bank-on-Wheels, an award-winning mobile banking kiosk, at the event. Equipped with 5G technology, the Bank-on-Wheels brought essential branch banking services closer to customers, allowing them convenient access to cash withdrawals.

To utilize UPAY, MSME owners can simply open a BizStarter account with UnionBank MSME Business Banking, a checking account with a low minimum balance requirement of just P5000. By opening a BizStarter account, MSMEs gain access not only to UPAY but also to UnionBank’s cutting-edge business banking solutions tailored to meet their needs, regardless of their size.
