The October 16 benefit show brings together friends and fellow musicians to help cover Echo’s medical expenses and rehabilitation following a stroke

The Filipino music community is rallying together for “Alingawngaw Para Kay Echo,” a fundraising gig dedicated to supporting Echo Singson, a longtime member of the local music scene who is currently recovering from a stroke.

Echo has been part of the Itchyworms family for years, with his connection to the band dating back to when his older brother, Chino, joined. In 1999, he co-founded Boldstar alongside Jazz Nicolas, Marie Jamora, and Justin Sunico.

Throughout his career, Echo has taken on various roles in the music industry, working as a host, sound technician, production assistant, and member of the lighting crew. Beyond his behind-the-scenes contributions, he has remained a familiar and valued figure in the Filipino indie music scene, actively participating in and supporting the community.

On September 19, Echo suffered a stroke while hosting a March of the Penguins gig at Mow’s. He was immediately brought to East Avenue Medical Center for treatment before being discharged. As he continues his recovery, he has shown small but encouraging signs of improvement, giving his family, friends, and colleagues renewed hope.

In a show of solidarity, members of the music community have joined forces for “Alingawngaw Para Kay Echo,” a benefit gig happening on October 16 at 123 Block in Mandala Park, Mandaluyong City. Ebe Dancel, Urbandub, The Itchyworms, The Ronnies, and The Revisors will come together for an evening of music in honor of someone who has contributed so much to the industry.

All proceeds from the fundraising event will go directly toward Echo’s medical expenses and rehabilitation. Every donation, every attendee, and every gesture of support can help make a meaningful difference in his journey toward recovery.

As Echo continues to face the challenges of recovery, his friends and colleagues are coming together to remind him of one important thing: he is not alone in this fight.

Tickets to Alingawngaw Para Kay Echo will be available at the venue on the day of the event.
